Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series DT Detector Position Sensors are magnetically actuated, stainless steel sensors designed for position monitoring and indication. Documented applications include linear valves, actuators, cylinders, rotary valves, and dampers.
Operating Conditions & Performance
Series DT units operate within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 163°F (-40 to 73°C). The sensors feature a response time of 3.0 ms with repeatability of 0.005" (.01 cm) and hysteresis of 0.030" (.08 cm). Electrical ratings support up to 3 A @ 125 VAC or 3 A @ 30 VDC, utilizing a Tungsten SPDT (form C) switch with an initial contact resistance maximum of 0.50 Ω.
The series is rated for hazardous locations and includes the following approvals:
- UL and CSA listed for Class I, Groups A, B, C, & D; Class II, Groups E, F & G
- Divisions 1 & 2
- Intrinsically Safe: Simple apparatus (with barrier)
- NEMA ratings: 1, 3, 4, 4X, 6, 7, 9, 12, and 13
Configuration Options
The Series DT consists of two primary components: a hermetically sealed reed switch sensor assembly potted in epoxy resin within a 316 SS housing, and a separate 316 stainless steel magnetic actuator bolt. The system operates without moving parts to eliminate arcing.
Models and Sensing Distances
- DT1060: Detector with standard actuator; sensing distance of 0.1" (2.54 mm)
- DT1160: Detector with high strength actuator; sensing distance of 0.5" (12.7 mm)
Mechanical and Electrical Configuration
- Housing Material: 316 SS
- Enclosure Rating: Weatherproof; Hermetically sealed; Explosion-proof
- Conduit Connection: 1/2"-14 female NPT
- Electrical Leads: Factory sealed, 18" minimum length, 4 conductor PVC insulated, 18 AWG (Green/Ground, Red/NC, Black/NO, White/Common)
- Actuator Thread: 1/2-14 NPT
- Detecter Thread: 5/8-18 UNF
Dimensions and Weight
- Detector Length: 3.750 (9.525 CM) / 3-3/4 [95.24]
- Diameter: 1-1/4 [31.75] inches
- Weight: 0.32 lb (145 g); 0.45 lb (204 g) with actuator
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between Series DT models is the sensing distance determined by the included magnetic actuator strength.
- DT1060: Includes a standard actuator providing a 0.1" (2.54 mm) sensing range.
- DT1160: Includes a high-strength actuator extending the sensing range to 0.5" (12.7 mm).
The detector assembly remains consistent across models, featuring a Tungsten SPDT switch and identical housing dimensions.
