Supported Applications
The FP-5200 Series is a stainless steel paddlewheel flow sensor designed for installation in SCH 40 stainless steel pipe. It measures flow velocity and produces a frequency signal proportional to flow rate, making it well suited to industrial water and process-liquid metering where a rugged, all-stainless wetted path is required.
The sensor body is ACI type CF-8M (316 cast stainless steel) per ASTM A351 with a CD4MCu stainless steel rotor and 316 SS / 347 SS wetted parts. As with any paddlewheel sensor, the retaining nut is not intended for prolonged contact with strong acids, caustic substances, solvents or their vapor, which can lead to nut failure and ejection of the sensor from a pressurized line.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The sensor covers a flow-velocity range of 0.5 to 6 m/s, producing a frequency output of 29 to 46 Hz per m/s. Linearity is ±1% of full range and repeatability is ±0.5% of full range. The pipe-size range spans 13 to 305 mm.
Process temperature is rated to 149 °C and line pressure to 103 bar. The voltage output is an approximate sine wave of 0.005 to 0.008 Vpp per Hz; coil resistance is 11.6 kΩ @ 25 °C and coil inductance is 3.5 H @ 25 °C. The integral cable is 7.6 m long and can be spliced up to 60 m with no significant loss of signal strength, terminating at a 1/2 in. NPT conduit port. The sensor is CE marked and manufactured under ISO 9001.
Configuration Options
The two sensors differ by the pipe range they serve and the fitting family used to mount them. The FP-5200 installs with FP-5200 Series Tee fittings for smaller lines, while the FP-5201 uses Mini-Tap fittings to reach larger pipe. Together they cover nominal pipe from 0.50 in. through 12 in.
Both sensors accept the same rotor kits, allowing a choice of pin material: a 316 SS pin (FP-52509) for general service or a Tungsten pin (FP-52509-2) for greater wear resistance.
Key Product Differences
- FP-5200 — paddlewheel sensor mounted with Tee fittings (FP-5205, FP-5207, FP-5210) for 0.50 in. to 1.00 in. pipe
- FP-5201 — paddlewheel sensor mounted with Mini-Tap fittings (FP-5212 through FP-5282) for 1.25 in. to 12 in. pipe
Accessories and replacement parts include the fitting cap kit FP-52648, the FP-52509 (316 SS pin) and FP-52509-2 (Tungsten pin) rotor kits, and instruction manual M2489.
