Supported Applications

The Omega MTS-3 Series is a rugged process water immersion heater designed for heating applications in water media. The series features stainless steel wetted construction and includes a 2½ NPT fitting for installation into tanks or vessels.

Enclosure Types

• E1 (General Purpose): UL Listed and CSA Certified for models not exceeding 48 amps.
• E2 (Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant): CSA NRTL/C Certified. These enclosures are not intended for use in hazardous areas, except for specific high-amperage configurations noted with a dagger symbol.

Electrical Configurations

Voltage and phase selection is designated within the model number:

• 120 Vac models are available only as single-phase (no 3P suffix).
• Models for 208, 240, or 480 Vac can be configured with a "3P" suffix to indicate three-phase power.

Dimensions and Mounting

The series provides specific dimensional data based on the selected kW rating:

• Overall dimension B varies from 17 cm (6⅝) for 3 kW models up to 118 cm (46⅞) for 18 kW models.
• Conduit opening: 2¾ NPT

The primary distinction within the MTS-3 Series is the enclosure type, designated by the "A" or "E2" suffix in the model number. The "A" designation corresponds to General Purpose (NEMA 1) enclosures, while "E2" indicates Moisture/Explosion-Resistant enclosures.

Power ratings and physical dimensions vary directly with the kW output selected. Higher wattage models require longer overall lengths (Dimension B) but maintain a consistent heating element diameter of 0.475 inches across the series. Models exceeding 48 amps are marked in the specification table and have specific certification exclusions for UL listing on general purpose enclosures.
