CRRS
Semi-Cylinder Ceramic Heaters 2192 °F Max and 9.5 kW Max
- Helically Wound Ribbon Iron-Chrome-Aluminum
- Rated to 1800°F (900°C)
- Low Mass Vacuum Formed Ceramic Fiber
- Use Two Semi- Cylindrical Units to Form a Full Cylinder
Product Overview
- Operating Temperature, Max 900 °C
- Series ID CRRS
- Supply Voltage 120 Vac
Supported Applications
The Omega CRRS Series consists of semi-cylindrical ceramic radiant heaters designed for high-temperature applications requiring rapid heat-up and cool-down. These vacuum-formed ceramic fiber units utilize helically wound iron-chrome-aluminum ribbon elements mounted in ridges to dissipate heat in three directions, increasing the effective radiant surface area. The series is intended for radiant heat only; direct contact between material and the heater face must be avoided.
Documented applications include:
- Pipe heating
- Process air heating
- Calibration ovens
- Strain annealing ovens
- Tube furnaces
- Heat treating furnaces
- Fluidized bed furnaces
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CRRS Series is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 1800°F (900°C). The heaters are constructed from high-quality, high-purity vacuum-formed ceramic with a low sodium inorganic bond. Due to the materials used, care must be taken during handling.
Performance characteristics include:
- Maximum Operating Temperature: 1800°F (900°C)
- Resistance Tolerance: ±5%
- Shrinkage: Up to 4% for temperatures up to 980°C
- Dimensional Variance: Potential variance of ±1/4" in heater size
The series supports power supplies of 120 and 240 Vac single and dual circuits. Specific models utilize dual 240VAC circuits, indicated by specific model suffixes or footnotes.
Configuration Options
The CRRS Series offers a broad range of configurations defined by wattage, voltage, dimensions (A, B, C, D), and the presence of vestibules. Two semi-cylindrical units are used to form a full cylinder in installation.
Power and Voltage Options
The series covers power ratings from 800 Watts up to 9500 Watts across various voltages:
- Voltage: 120 Vac and 240 Vac (single and dual circuits)
- Dual Circuit Configurations: Specific high-wattage models operate on dual 240VAC circuits.
Housing and Mounting Options
Variants are available with or without unheated vestibules. The model number suffix indicates the configuration:
- Without Vestibules: Standard semi-cylindrical units.
- With Vestibules (-C): Units complete with attached vestibules; add 3 inches to dimension 'A' for these configurations.
Electrical Connections
Mechanical terminations such as SPLIT BOLT connections or TERMINAL STRIPS are recommended. Lead wires may be bent to specific needs, but care must be taken to avoid excessive stress on the junction. Polarity must be observed; L1 and L2 should never be connected adjacent to each other.
Dimensional Envelope
The series provides various lengths (A Dim) ranging from 6 inches to 24 inches, with corresponding internal diameters (B Dim), widths (C Dim), and heights (D Dim). Specific dimensions vary by model; refer to the specification table for exact A, B, C, D values in inches.
Key Product Differences
The bundle includes both the CRRS Series (semi-cylindrical) and CRFP Series (flat plate) data. The following distinctions apply specifically to the CRRS models:
- CRRS vs. CRFP Geometry: The CRRS series uses two semi-cylindrical units to form a full cylinder, whereas the CRFP series offers flat plates with optional unheated flanges.
- Vestibule Configuration: CRRS models are distinguished by the presence or absence of vestibules (suffix -C). The CRFP series distinguishes between configurations with and without flanges.
