Supported Applications

The Omega PR-11 Series consists of rugged RTD probes featuring insulated wire and metal strain relief support at the sheath/wire transition. Designed for durability, these probes are documented for use in liquid immersion, slurries and emulsions, granular material measurements, and temperature monitoring of heat bars, kilns, and pipes.

The series is suitable for both process and laboratory temperature measurement applications across a broad range of industrial environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PR-11 Series covers three distinct process temperature ranges depending on the model family: -50 °C to 250 °C (-58 °F to 482 °F) for low-range models, -50 °C to 450 °C (-58 °F to 842 °F) for high-range models, and -200 °C to 600 °C (-328 °F to 1112 °F) for extreme-range models. Accuracy is specified as Class A across the full range for PR-11L (Low); Class A from -50 °C to 300 °C (-58 °F to 572 °F), or else Class B, for PR-11H (High); and Class A from -100 °C to 450 °C (-148 °F to 842 °F), or else Class B, for PR-11E (Extreme).

Standard nominal resistance is 100 Ω at 0 °C with a TCR of 0.00385 Ω/Ω/°C. The probes feature an IP67 ingress protection rating and are constructed with PFA wire material protected by a Stainless Steel Overbraid.

Response time (T90) varies by diameter and model family:

  • PR-11L (Low): 2.4 s for 1/8 ", 2.8 s for 3/16 ", and 3.25 s for 1/4 ".
  • PR-11H (High): 2.8 s for 1/8 ", 4.11 s for 3/16 ", and 5.41 s for 1/4 ".
  • PR-11E (Extreme): 9 s for 1/8 ", 9.8 s for 3/16 ", and 10.6 s for 1/4 ".

The series meets vibration standards per IEC 60068-2-6 (5 Hz to 2000 Hz sweep rate, one active per minute; 10 sweep cycles; acceleration 5 g) and shock ratings per IEC 60068-2-27 (50 g/11 ms).

Configuration Options

The PR-11 Series is configurable across several dimensions to meet specific installation requirements:

  • Diameters: 1/8 ", 3/16 ", and 1/4 ".
  • Probe Lengths: Standard lengths include 2 ", 3 ", 4 ", 6 ", 9 ", 12 ", 18 ", and 24 ". Other lengths may be built using the configurator.
  • Wire Configuration: Available in 2-, 3-, or 4-wire configurations.
  • Resistance Values: Standard PT100 (100 Ω). Dual element options are offered in both PT100 Ω and PT1000 Ω, available for the 1/4 " diameter only. Note that the PR-11E (Extreme) series does not offer a PT1000 resistance value.
  • Wire Length: Standard wire length is 40 ", with longer lengths configurable.
  • Terminations: Lead wires feature stripped ends as standard. Other terminations, including an MTP mini connector option, may be configured.

Key Product Differences

The series is divided into three model families based on temperature capability and wire termination limits:

  • PR-11L (Low): Covers -50 °C to 250 °C (-58 °F to 482 °F) with a Class A accuracy rating. The maximum wire termination temperature is 100 °C (212 °F).
  • PR-11H (High): Covers -50 °C to 450 °C (-58 °F to 842 °F). Accuracy is Class A from -50 °C to 300 °C (-58 °F to 572 °F), or else Class B. The maximum wire termination temperature is 250 °C (482 °F).
  • PR-11E (Extreme): Covers -200 °C to 600 °C (-328 °F to 1112 °F). Accuracy is Class A from -100 °C to 450 °C (-148 °F to 842 °F), or else Class B. The maximum wire termination temperature is 250 °C (482 °F).
