Supported Applications

The Omega PRX-QUK-CON-PROBES series consists of quick disconnect handheld RTD probes designed to plug directly into the rugged HDX-OTP handle. These Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensors utilize DIN tolerance platinum elements to assure complete interchangeability, allowing a single handle to be used with any compatible quick disconnect probe in the system.

Documented applications for this series include:

• Penetration measurements: The PRX-NP-100-E-12 penetration probe features a conical tip designed for easy insertion into soft and semi-frozen material.
• Airflow monitoring: The PRX-AP-100-E-12 air probe includes a drilled end that exposes the element to airflow, enabling fast measurement of air temperatures.
• General purpose sensing: Type PR-13 probes are available for general-purpose quick disconnect applications in various diameters and lengths.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports distinct operating temperature ranges depending on the specific probe type. The penetration probe (PRX-NP) is rated for an operating temperature of 0 to 600°C (32 to 1112°F). The air probe (PRX-AP) operates within a range of 0 to 260°C (32 to 500°F).

Performance characteristics are defined by the sensor element and sheath design. Type PR-13 probes with a 3 mm OD diameter are identified as Fast Response Probes. The standard retractable cable provided measures 300 mm (1') in length and stretches to 1.5 m (5'). All wetted parts utilize 304SS (304 stainless steel) sheaths.

The PRX-QUK-CON-PROBES series offers configurable dimensions, tip geometries, and electrical connection options to accommodate specific measurement needs. The rugged aluminum die-cast handle is designed to accept any quick disconnect RTD probe for fast connections.

Dimensions and Geometry

• Type PR-13 General Purpose Probe (6 mm): 6 mm (¼") OD diameter with insertion lengths from 150 to 600 mm (6 to 24").
• Type PR-13 Fast Response Probe: Available in 3 mm (⅛") or 1.5 mm (⅛") OD diameters.
• Penetration Probes (PRX-NP): Feature a conical tip, 4.5 mm (³⁄₁₆") diameter, and a length of 300 mm (12").
• Air Probes (PRX-AP): Designed with a drilled end to expose the miniature RTD element shielded by a 304SS sheath; dimensions include a 4.5 mm (³⁄₁₆") diameter and 300 mm (12") length.

The probes are available with stripped leads or specific connector types to interface with the handle system:
