Supported Applications
The Omega FVLT100 Series PTFE needle valves are designed for laboratory and industrial applications requiring the regulation of corrosive gases and liquids or high purity service. These compact, reliable valves may also be used as shut-off valves. The series includes metering valve configurations (FVLT110) constructed with a safety handle to prevent over-tightening and facilitate fine metered regulation.
Documented applications include:
- Regulating corrosive gases and liquids
- High purity service
- Pressure or non-critical vacuum service (FVLT110 Series)
- Bubble tight shutoff valves (FVLT110 Series)
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FVLT100 Series operates within a maximum pressure of 75 psig (517 kPa) and a maximum temperature of 65°C (150°F). The valves feature an orifice size of 3.175 mm dia. (0.125"). Flow performance varies by model, with three conveniently overlapping flow ranges available across the series.
Flow rates are based on a test condition of 10 psig (69 kPa) inlet pressure and atmospheric exhaust. Maximum flow capabilities range from:
- Air: 600 ml/min to 55,000 ml/min
- Water: 36 ml/min to 2,800 ml/min
The Cv values for the series range from 0.003 to 0.250 depending on the specific model and flow configuration.
Configuration Options
The FVLT100 Series offers configurable options regarding housing materials, process connections, and internal construction tailored for different service requirements.
Housing and Non-Wetted Materials
- FVLT100 Series: Shell available in anodized aluminum or 316 stainless steel. Bushing options include plated brass or 316 stainless steel. Adjusting knob is phenolic.
- FVLT110 Series: Shell and handle are constructed of anodized aluminum.
Process Connections
- ⅛ FNPT (Female National Pipe Taper)
- ¼" Comp. (Compression)
Sensor and Wetted Materials
All fluid-contacting parts are constructed of PTFE, with the valve spindle made of CTFE.
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two primary model families distinguished by flow capacity, turn count, and external construction:
- FVLT10x Models (Standard Needle Valves): Offered in ⅛ FNPT or ¼" Comp. connections with aluminum/brass or 316 stainless steel non-wetted materials. These models require 6 turns to fully open.
- FVLT11x Models (Metering Valves): Constructed of PTFE and CTFE with anodized aluminum shells and handles for fine metered regulation. Available in three overlapping flow ranges, these valves require 8 turns to fully open.
Model numbers follow the pattern FVLT10x or FVLT11x, where specific suffixes (e.g., -SS) denote material variants such as 316 stainless steel shells. The series includes models with maximum air flows of 2400 ml/min and 55,000 ml/min for the standard range, while metering valves offer ranges starting at 600 ml/min up to 30,000 ml/min.
