Supported Applications
The Omega PM1000 Series functions as a universal local plug-on display and loop-powered pressure monitor designed for use with 4-20mA, 2-wire transmitters. The series is engineered to interface specifically with OMEGA's PX4200 Series Transmitters, which utilize Silicon-on-Sapphire (SOS) sensor technology featuring solid-state silicon strain gages on a sapphire carrier glass-bonded to a titanium diaphragm.
These devices provide local visualization and monitoring for pressure measurement applications ranging from vacuum to 6000 psi. The PM1000 offers basic display functionality, while the PM1001 variant adds set-point capability. A documented warning states that these products are not designed for use in, and should not be used for, patient-connected applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 175°F) and a media (process) temperature range of -50 to 120°C (-58 to 248°F). The enclosure is rated IP65, with housing material specified as Stainless Steel. Wetted parts are constructed from Titanium.
Performance specifications for the compatible PX4200 Series transmitters include an accuracy of ±0.25% full scale (includes linearity and hysteresis) and repeatability of ±0.1% full scale. Long-term stability is rated at ±0.2% full scale over 1 year. Thermal effects are specified as ≤±0.016% full scale/°F for both zero and span. The response time is 10 ms, with a maximum operating humidity of 95% RH non-condensing.
Electrical operation requires loop power between 13 to 36 Vdc when used with the PM1000 display; without the display or for reverse polarity protection, the range is 18 to 36 Vdc. The maximum load resistance is defined as R maximum = (Vs-13)/20 with PM1000 and R maximum = (Vs-18)/20 otherwise.
Configuration Options
The series supports two primary configurations: the PM1000 plug-on display and the PM1001 plug-on loop-powered pressure monitor with a single set-point. Both units feature a 4-digit LED display that can be rotated in 90° increments and secured with a longer screw.
Configuration is performed via two buttons (A & B) accessible after removing the front cover by loosening four Phillips screws. Programmable settings include:
- Decimal Point Selection: Shifts decimal point position using A/B buttons.
- Zero Setting: Adjusts zero offset (e.g., 0.0psi).
- Span Setting: Adjusts span value (e.g., 60.0psi).
- Display Damping: Configurable with a minimum of 0.3 seconds.
- Over-range Display Selection: Toggles display behavior for signals outside the calibrated range.
The electrical connection utilizes a DIN43650 type connector. Pin assignments are: PIN 1 = Supply, PIN 2 = Signal, and PIN 3 = Switching Output (for PM1001). When over-range display is enabled, 'H I' indicates signals > 20mA (Overflow) and 'LO' indicates signals < 4mA (Underflow); when disabled, error code 'ErC6' displays if the range (-1999 to +1999) is exceeded.
Key Product Differences
The PM1000 and PM1001 models differ primarily in set-point functionality. The PM1000 provides local display of pressure values derived from the 4-20mA signal, while the PM1001 includes a single set-point output capability.
Physical dimensions for the compatible PX4200 transmitters vary slightly by range: most ranges feature an overall length of 66 mm (2.60 in) with a body length of 23 mm (0.905 in). The 0 to 5 psi range variant has a longer body length of 30 mm (1.181 in) and includes a connector length of 24 mm (0.94 in). All variants share a diameter of 25.4 mm (1.0 in), a weight of 90 g (3.2 oz), and a process connection of ¼-18 NPT male.
Available pressure ranges for the PX4200 Series include vacuum to 6000 psi, with specific model numbers such as PX4200-30VACI (30 inHg to 0), PX4200-005GI (0 to 5 psi), and up to PX4200-6KGI (0 to 6K psi).
