Supported Applications

The Omega OM-CP-RTDTemp2000 is a precision RTD temperature data logger designed for applications requiring precise temperature readings and statistical analysis. As part of the NOMAD® Family, this device provides access to current temperature readings as well as minimum, maximum, and average statistics via its large backlit LCD display.

The series supports FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant validation workflows when paired with the OM-CP-SVP-SYSTEM software package. The product overview explicitly states these products are not designed for use in human applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The logger measures temperature using a 100Ω Platinum RTD sensor across a range of -200 to +850°C (-328 to 1562°F). Resolution is specified as 0.01°C.

  • Calibrated Accuracy: ±0.05°C from -200 to +260°C; ±0.3°C from +260 to +850°C
  • Ambient Operating Environment: -20 to +60°C (-4 to 140°F) at 0 to 95% RH (non-condensing)
  • Memory Capacity: 174,762 readings
  • Sample Rate: Configurable from 2 seconds up to 24 hours
  • Baud Rate: 115,200 for interface communication

The device features NIST traceable calibration. Typical battery life is rated at 1 year with a 1-minute reading rate and display off, or approximately 30 days typical with continuous LCD display use.

Configuration Options

Housed in black anodized aluminum measuring 4.8" x 3.3" x 1.25" (122mm x 84mm x 32mm), the logger is wall-mountable and weighs 440 g (16 oz). It features a user-selectable measurement unit display, an 8-button front keypad for real-time operation, and programmable start/stop time functions.

Power options include:

  • Included replaceable 9 V lithium battery
  • Optional OM-CP-110-PWR-2000 (110 Vac power adaptor)
  • Optional OM-CP-220-PWR-2000 (220 Vac power adaptor)

The unit connects to a computer via USB or serial interface using the required OM-CP-IFC200 Interface Cable package, which includes Windows software and an 1.8 m (6') cable.

Probe Compatibility & Wiring

  • Sensor Type: Designed for use with 100 Ohm RTD probes
  • Wiring Configurations: Supports 2, 3, or 4-wire screw terminal block connections
  • Note on Probes: Most 100 Ohm, 3-wire RTD probes will work if the resistance between two same-colored wires is less than 1 Ohm; however, Omega cannot guarantee accuracy for all third-party probes.
  • 2-Wire Connection: Requires shorting inputs 3 and 4 together, and inputs 1 and 2 together before connecting RTD lead wires to terminals 2 and 3. Polarity instructions must be followed strictly.

Key Product Differences

The series offers specific model variations based on calibration documentation:

  • OM-CP-RTDTEMP2000: Standard precision temperature data logger
  • OM-CP-RTDTEMP2000-CERT: Includes a NIST calibration certificate

The device stops recording when memory is full or the user stops it; re-arm via computer interface is required to restart. The backlight consumes significant battery life, and users should configure auto shut-off per the manual.
