Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series BPV Pneumatic Ball Vibrators are designed for bridge-breaking in thin walls and small tanks. Documented applications include use on vibrating separators, vibrating conveyors, and addressing electroplating build-up. The series is also specified for material compaction during packing operations or sand compaction while molding.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series BPV operates with a supply pressure of 29 to 87 psi (2 to 6 bar) and functions in ambient temperatures up to 212°F (100°C). The units are rated for use in high humidity or dusty working areas. Noise levels range from 75 to 95 dBA.

Performance varies by model, with frequency ranging from 7800 V.P.M. on the BPV-6 at 29 psi (2 bar) up to 34000 V.P.M. on the BPV-1 at 87 psi (6 bar). Force output spans from 56 lbf (250 N) for the BPV-1 at low pressure input to 722 lbf (3210 N) for the BPV-6 at high pressure input. Air consumption values are model-specific and increase with supply pressure.

Configuration Options

The series consists of six models: BPV-1, BPV-2, BPV-3, BPV-4, BPV-5, and BPV-6. All units feature an aluminum housing equipped with a steel ring and ball inside, tightly closed by plastic side covers. Vibration is generated when the internal ball, pushed by compressed air, runs in a rotary motion to produce centrifugal force.

Key configuration details include:

  • Air Connections: Models BPV-1 through BPV-5 utilize 1/4" BSPT female connections with 1/4" OD push-to-connect adapters. Model BPV-6 uses a 3/8" BSPT female connection with a 3/8" OD push-to-connect adapter.
  • Exhaust: All models include a muffler for the exhaust port.
  • Housing Material: Aluminum construction across all variants.

Key Product Differences

The six models differ primarily in physical dimensions, weight, and performance output (frequency and force). The BPV-1 is the smallest unit with a length dimension B of 3-27/64 [86.92] inches/mm equivalent notation as printed, while the BPV-6 is the largest with a dimension B of 6-5/16 [160.34].

Weight increases from .31 lb (0.14 kg) for the BPV-1 to 2.54 lb (1.15 kg) for the BPV-6. Higher-numbered models generally provide greater force output at lower frequencies compared to smaller models, with specific values dependent on the supply pressure input of 29 psi (2 bar), 58 psi (4 bar), or 87 psi (6 bar).
