Supported Applications

The Omega PHCN-85 is a panel-mount pH/ORP transmitter and controller designed for high-level water quality management, automatic running systems, and inline monitoring. Documented applications include:

• High Purity Water: Management control of high pure or ultra-pure water in electronics, electric power, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, clinical medical science, and life-science research.
• Industrial Process Solutions: Salinity analysis for water treatment, desalination, concentrate management, circulating cooling water, industrial coating, large-scale water treatment equipment, mixing, metallurgy, petrochemicals, and industrial cleaning.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PHCN-85 measures pH from 0.00 to 14.00 with a resolution of 0.01 and an accuracy of ±0.1. ORP measurement ranges from -1999 to +1999 mV with a resolution of 0.1 mV and display accuracy of ±5 mV. Temperature is measured from 0 to 100°C (32 to 212°F) using a 1000 Ω RTD input, offering a resolution of 0.1°C and an accuracy of ±0.5°C.

Automatic temperature compensation functions within the range of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F). The unit operates in ambient temperatures from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) with relative humidity ≤85% RH (non-condensing). Storage conditions are specified as -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F) at ≤85% RH. The enclosure provides a protection level of NEMA 4 (IP65) when the rear cover is installed.

Electrical and Output Specifications

• Power Supply: DC 24V ±4V with internal automatic polarity identification; consumption <5.5 W.
• Current Outputs (2): Isolated, adjustable, reversible 4 to 20 mA outputs supporting instrument or transmitter mode. Loop resistance is maximum 400 Ω at DC 24V with a resolution of ±0.1 mA.
• Relay Outputs (3): Contact photoelectric relay outputs programmable for pH, ORP, temperature, timing ON/OFF, or PID control. Relay load is maximum 50 mA AC/DC at 30V.
• Data Communication: RS485 Modbus-RTU protocol.

Configuration Options

The PHCN-85 features a 3.5 inch 320×240 TFT color screen with virtual pointer or digital style interface display and multi-parameter capability. Calibration supports offline/inline selection with automatic buffer recognition for up to 6-point buffer solution calibration.

Configurable Outputs

The three photoelectric switch outputs can be configured as:

• pH, ORP, or temperature output control.
• Timing output (calendar function with reserved timing).
• PID adjustment to drive pulse metering pumps or extension controls.

Accessories and Options

The series supports the following accessories for specific installation needs:

• pH Electrodes: PHE-7351-15-PT1K (Industrial pH electrode with temperature, in-line or submersible) and PHE-6510B (Submersible pH electrode).
• ORP Electrode: ORE-6510B (Submersible ORP electrode).
• Mounting Assembly: PHEH-65-10 (Required for ORE-6510B or PHE-6510B).
• Buffer Solutions: PHA-4, PHA-7, and PHA-10 (pH 4.00, 7.00, and 10.00 respectively; 500 mL bottles).
