Supported Applications

The OMEGALAQ™ Liquid Temperature Indicating Lacquers are temperature-indicating liquids designed for monitoring temperatures on surfaces where solid markers may not leave a distinct mark. The product is applied to smooth surfaces including glass and polished metal, as well as fabrics, rubber, and plastics.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates by changing from dull-opaque to glossy-transparent when the specified temperature is reached. This phase change occurs on the order of milliseconds (0.001 sec). The lacquers are available for process temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C) with an accuracy of ±1.0%. Specific temperature points range from 175°F to 325°F, 400°F to 700°F, 750°F to 1200°F, and 1250°F to 1900°F.

Notes on operating conditions include:

  • Certain temperature points are identified as best candidates for high vacuum applications.
  • The product tends to outgas in a vacuum environment.

Configuration Options

The series is offered in 2-oz bottles of liquid lacquer, with model numbers following the format LAQ-0(*)G where (*) represents the temperature rating. For example, LAQ-0250G indicates OMEGALAQ™ liquid rated for 250°F (121°C). The series supports thinning to ensure workable consistency without affecting accuracy.

Available options and accessories include:

  • TAP Adhesive Labels: Rated to a maximum of 356°F (180°C), supplied in packages of 100 per roll. Note that the source lists TAP labels as rated to 350°F, with an additional note specifying a maximum temperature of 180°C (356°F).
  • GREEN LABEL THINNER: Available in 2 oz bottles or pint sizes.
  • LAQ-KIT-(*)†† Experimental Kit: Includes 2 oz lacquer, 2 oz thinner, and 100 TAP adhesive labels. Temperature ranges for kits are available from 175° to 325°F.
