Supported Applications
The Omega SP-016 Series is a modular smart probe designed to read heat flux thermopiles and perform automatic temperature compensation. The device integrates with the Omega Link Ecosystem, supporting connectivity via OEG software, SYNC configuration software, the Omega Link Cloud, and Modbus Networks.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The SP-016 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) with an IP67 rating when mated. The measurement input supports a voltage range of ±60 mV for heat flux sensors, delivering an accuracy of ±0.02% or ±4 µV and stability over temperature of ±1 µV/C.
Power requirements are 2.8 VDC to 3.3 VDC. The digital I/O inputs accept a maximum voltage (VinMAX) of 30 VDC, with high threshold detection at 2.2 V MAX and low threshold at 0.3 V MIN. Digital outputs provide two drain channels rated for 100 mA max each.
Configuration Options
The series features a modular M12 construction designed to interface with heat flux sensors via an M12 4-pin female connector and connect to the Omega Link Smart Interface or other systems via an M12 8-pin male connector. The probe dimensions are 22.1 mm W x 96.7 mm L (0.87" x 3.80") not including mounting tabs.
Configurable features and available options include:
- Sensor Interface: M12 4-pin female connector for thermopile sensor input with integrated thermocouple compensation (TC +, TC -).
- I/O & Communication: Discrete I/O (2x Digital Input or Output), Interrupt Signal (INTR), and I2C communication (SCL, SDA) via the M12 8-pin male connector.
- Data Logging & Control: Supports 10,000+ sample data/event logging with integrated alarm and control functions. Configuration is managed through SYNC software with secure password protection.
- Ecosystem Compatibility: Compatible with Omega Link Smart Interfaces (Wired USB IF-001, Wired RS485/Modbus IF-002, Wireless Sub GHz IF-006) and Gateways (GW-001 Series).
The series supports various accessories for installation and expansion, including the HFS-5 Heat Flux Sensor, M12 field mountable screw terminals, shielded T-Splitters, and dual M12 cables in 1m, 3m, or 5m lengths with straight or right-angle terminators.
Key Product Differences
The primary enumerated model is the SP-016-1, described as a Heat Flux Smart Probe with Compensated Thermocouple interface and discrete I/O. The series utilizes specific pin assignments for its connectors: Pin 1 (TC -), Pin 2 (Thermopile +), Pin 3 (Thermopile -), and Pin 4 (TC +) on the sensor side; and Pins 1, 6 (DIO), Pin 2 (INTR), Pins 3-4 (I2C), Pin 5 (Shield Ground), Pin 7 (GND), and Pin 8 (Power Supply) on the interface side.
Agency approvals for the series include CE and UKCA. Sensitivity, Gain, and Offset values are not fixed in the probe but are configurable via SYNC configuration software based on the specific heat flux sensor documentation used.
