Supported Applications

The Omega RH700 is a handheld, multi-functional thermo-hygrometer data logger designed for measuring ambient temperature and humidity parameters alongside material moisture levels. The series supports applications requiring the assessment of wallboard, masonry, hardwood, softwood, soil, paper, and powders using its integrated pinless or penetrating probe capabilities.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The RH700 operates across an ambient temperature range of -40 to 199.9 °C (-40 to 392 °F). Measurement accuracy is specified as ±0.5 °C (±0.9 °F) for Ambient Temperature, Dew Point, Wet Bulb Temperature, Surface Temperature, and Condensation Temperature; Relative Humidity accuracy is ±3% RH. Absolute Humidity and GPP (Mixing Ratio) are accurate to within ±3% of reading, while Atmospheric Pressure and Vapor Pressure maintain an accuracy of ±1 hPa.

Moisture level measurements in both Pinless Mode and Pin Mode achieve an accuracy of ±3% WME (Wood Moisture Equivalent). The device features a typical response time for humidity of 10 seconds in still air. Resolution is provided at 0.1 °C (0.1 °F) for temperature parameters, 0.1% RH for relative humidity, and 1 hPa for pressure measurements.

Configuration Options

The series offers a comprehensive set of measurement functions within a single handheld unit with a plastic gray and yellow housing. Key configurable capabilities include:

  • Data Logging & Memory: Internal storage supports up to 8000 data points with date/time stamps, plus the ability to store/recall 20 pairs of readings in nonvolatile memory.
  • Sensor Options: Includes a built-in pinless moisture sensor and an external pin-type probe. Surface temperature and condensation temperature measurements require an optional K-type thermocouple probe.
  • Data Interface: Features a USB connector for data download to a PC using included software, driver, and cable; output is displayed as Excel-formatted graphs or tables on Windows PCs.
  • User Functions: Includes settable high/low alarms for RH and moisture levels, Min/Max tracking, Data Hold, 30-minute Auto Power Off, and a backlit LCD with 3-digit primary and 4-digit secondary readouts.

The standard package includes the pin-type moisture probe, sensor protection cap, PC interface program on a mini-disc, USB cable, 9V battery (included), user's manual, and soft carrying pouch. Field calibration is available in pinless moisture level mode.
