- Series ID TA3-TA4
Supported Applications
The Omega TA3 and TA4 series are miniature instrumentation connectors designed for 3- and 4-wire RTD sensors and other instrumentation using copper-type lead wire. These connectors feature a latch lock mechanism and mechanical key polarization to ensure secure connections.
Note: The product overview explicitly states that these connectors are not recommended for thermocouples requiring special compensating alloys in their construction.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports two primary cable diameter configurations based on the connector style. Standard cord plugs (TA3M, TA4M, TA3F, TA4F) accept a maximum cable diameter of 2.9 mm (0.114"). The "L" style connectors with external flexure relief (TA3ML, TA4ML, TA3FL, TA4FL) accommodate larger cables up to 4.4 mm (0.173").
Connections are made via solder terminals on all styles. The series includes male and female cord plugs as well as panel/bulkhead receptacles.
Configuration Options
The TA3-TA4 series offers a range of configurations to meet specific installation needs, including gender, pin count, mounting style, and strain relief options.
- Cord Plugs: Available in male (TA3M, TA4M) and female (TA3F, TA4F) versions with internal strain relief. "L" styles (e.g., TA3ML, TA4FL) provide external flexure relief for larger cable diameters.
- Pin Count: Models are offered in 3-pin or 4-pin configurations to match sensor wiring requirements.
- Panel/Bulkhead Receptacles: Includes male receptacles (TB3M, TB4M) and female receptacles (TY3F, TY4F).
- Accessories: A trim plate (model TYEF-02) is available for the female panel receptacle.
The "L" style must be ordered when used with the Omega Retractable Sensor Cable (RSC). The series also supports an option to add a connector model designation to probe numbers, incurring additional cost depending on whether it is configured as a 3-pin or 4-wire connection.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the TA3-TA4 family are distinguished by gender (male/female), pin count (3/4), and strain relief style. The standard models feature internal strain relief, while those with an "L" suffix include external flexure relief to accommodate larger cable diameters up to 0.173".
Panel receptacles are designated by the TB prefix for male units (TB3M, TB4M) and TY prefix for female units (TY3F, TY4F). The series does not include thermocouple-specific compensating alloys; they are intended strictly for RTD sensors with copper-type lead wire.
