Supported Applications

The Omega LCM1001 and LCM1011 series are canister-style compression load cells designed for axial compression applications. These metric models provide force measurement capabilities in standard industrial weighing systems, test stands, and process instrumentation where high-capacity compression sensing is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LCM1001/LCM1011 series operates within an ambient temperature range of -46 to 100°C (-50 to 212°F), with a compensated temperature range of 16 to 71°C (60 to 160°F). The load cells feature an IP67 protection class and are constructed from 17-4 PH stainless steel for capacities below 500,000 lb or high-alloy steel for capacities ≥500,000 lb. Performance specifications include a linearity of ±0.05% FSO, hysteresis of ±0.03% FSO, and repeatability of ±0.02% FSO.

Electrical characteristics are defined by an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc (maximum 15 Vdc) with a standard output signal of 2 mV/V ±0.25%. The input and output resistance is specified as 350 ±10 Ω. Thermal effects on zero balance are ±0.0018% full scale/°C, while span thermal effects are ±0.0018% rdg/°C.

Overload protection includes a safe overload rating of 150% of rated capacity and an ultimate overload limit of 300% of rated capacity. The series supports measurement ranges from 0-250 to 0-10,000 kgf (equivalent to 0-500 lb to 0-2 M lb). Calibration is performed via a 5-point NIST-traceable process in compression at 0%, 50%, and 100% of full scale.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options for mounting, output signals, and environmental conditions:

  • Housing & Materials: Available in standard canister styles with dimensions varying by capacity; materials include 17-4 PH stainless steel or high-alloy steel depending on the load rating.
  • Process Connections: Features K Threads and four holes equally spaced on a 1" diameter for mounting. Thread specifications range from M10 x 1.5 to 1-14 UNS-2B based on capacity.
  • Output Signals: Standard bridge output (2 mV/V) or optional 0 to 5 Vdc output available for capacities ≥5000 kg using the "-5V" suffix.
  • Connectors & Cables: The LC1011/LCM1011 series utilizes a PTIH-10-6P or equivalent electrical connection. Accessories include mating connector PT06F10-6S and cable assembly CA-6PC24-3-015 with twist-lock.
  • Special Options: Configurable options include built-in amplifiers, overload stops ("-OL"), dual bridge configurations ("-DUAL"), extended temperature ranges (-TC1: -45 to 93°C; -TC2: -45 to 177°C), and CSA-approved intrinsically safe versions ("-CSA").
  • Calibration Options: Full scale calibration over 300,000 lb is available by specifying option "-FS".

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between the LC1001/LCM1001 and LC1011/LCM1011 model families primarily through connector styles. The LCM1001 models are standard metric canister load cells, while the LCM1011 variants incorporate specific twist-lock connector interfaces compatible with PT06F10-6S mating connectors.

Capacity-dependent dimensional variations exist across the series; for example, dimension B ranges from 116 mm (4.6 in) at lower capacities to 406 mm (16 in) at 2 M lb capacity. Thread types and depths also vary by load rating, transitioning from metric threads (M10 x 1.5) on smaller units to UNC/UNF or UNS threads (e.g., ¾-16 UNF-2B, 1-14 UNS-2B) on larger capacities.

Base and top plate accessories are model-specific; for instance, the LC1000-BP4/LC1000-TP4 plates serve lower capacity units up to 50K lb/kgf, while higher capacities utilize BP6/TP6 or BP8/TP8 variants. Metric models (LCM series) pair with LCM1000 base and top plate model numbers.
