Supported Applications
The Omega FMA-LP1600A Series consists of Low Pressure Drop Gas Mass Flow Meters designed for clean gases. These meters utilize a laminar flow element (LFE) to force gas into laminar flow, applying the Poiseuille equation to relate volumetric flow to pressure drop. By measuring this differential pressure and incorporating absolute temperature and pressure sensors, the series determines mass flow rate corrected to standard conditions.
Applications include processes requiring high-resolution data with 1000 readings per second, simultaneous display of multiple parameters (mass flow, volumetric flow, temperature, and pressure), and no warm-up time. The series supports over 130 gas calibrations via Gas Select™ technology and allows for custom live gas mix programming.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FMA-LP1600A Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 100% non-condensing. The maximum pressure rating is 50 psig, and the meters are calibrated at specific pressures depending on flow: air @ 5 psig for 0 to 1 LPM, 15 psig for 2 to 10 LPM, 30 psig for 20 to 100 LPM, and 50 psig for 200 LPM and greater. Calibrations are performed at an ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F).

Configuration Options
The FMA-LP1600A Series offers extensive configuration options across measurement ranges, outputs, connections, and special features.
- Measurement Ranges: Available from 0 to 0.5 SCCM up to 0 to 500 SLM (Standard Liters Per Minute). Specific full-scale flow rates include 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 SCCM; 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, and 500 SLM.
- Process Connections: M-5 (10-32) Female Thread for lower ranges; 1/8 NPT Female, 1/4 NPT Female, 1/2 NPT Female, and 3/4 NPT Female for higher flow rates.
- Output Signals: Standard output is 0 to 5 Vdc. Optional outputs include 4 to 20 mA (suffix "-I"), two 4 to 20 mA channels (suffix "-I2"), and two 0 to 5V channels (suffix "-V2").
- Communications: RS232 is standard; RS485 is available as an option by adding the suffix "-RS485".
- Wetted Materials: 302 and 303 SS, FKM, silicone RTV, nylon 616, aluminum.
Key Product Differences
The series includes specific model variations to address distinct operational needs. Standard models provide a single output scaled to mass flow rate by default; adding the suffix "-VOL" scales the standard output to volumetric flow rate at no additional cost.
Dual-output configurations are available with two 4 to 20 mA outputs (suffix "-I2") or two 0 to 5V outputs (suffix "-V2"). For alternate secondary output scaling, suffixes "-T" for temperature and "-P" for pressure can be added. A portable version featuring an integral battery is available by adding the suffix "-B", though this option is not compatible with models where 4 to 20 mA is the chosen output.
Additional configuration options include a totalizer (suffix "-TOT") and scaling in SCFH units (suffix "-SCFH"). The series also supports replacement cables, multi-drop boxes, and power supply adaptors as accessories. Units are supplied with CE and RoHS certifications and include a NIST 5-Point Certificate.
