Supported Applications

The Omega Series 700 Linear Thermistor Sensors are probe assemblies fitted with precision 44018 linear thermistor elements. These sensors support temperature measurement in water, sub-soil, air, gas, liquid, soil, and sand environments. Specific configurations address general purpose readings, attachable surface temperatures for piping heat loss or compression efficiency studies, test rooms, incubators, remote air readings, monitoring of gas streams, duct-work, grilles, vents, cuvette temperatures, thermometric titration, freezing point determination, and liquid immersion in pipes or closed vessels.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series utilizes precision 44018 linear thermistor elements rated to a process temperature of up to 100°C (212°F). The documented measurement range spans -50°C to 100°C (-58°F to 212°F). Standard assemblies are supplied with 3 m (10') of vinyl covered lead wire terminated by a three-conductor phone plug. Extended lead lengths up to 76 m (250') are available upon request, with additional cost per 300 mm (12').

Configuration Options

The series offers multiple probe configurations and housing materials including stainless steel, economical plastic, aluminum die cast handles, Pyrex glass, epoxy-backed surfaces, and PFA-covered flexible wire. Process connections vary by model to include pipe fittings (1/8 NPT for OL-710), threaded fittings, compression fittings (for THX-700 series), or direct immersion designs.

Key configuration options documented in the series include:

• General Purpose Probes: Water-resistant models suitable for short-term water and sub-soil readings; vinyl-tipped flexible versions (suffix 'V') are available.
• Air Temperature Probes: Stainless steel probes or economical plastic housing variants designed for test rooms, incubators, and remote air monitoring.
• Tubular & Immersion Probes: Rugged stainless steel designs for liquid immersion (immersible only to transition fitting) or Pyrex glass chemically inert versions for titration.
• Surface Temperature Probes: Attachable cups with epoxy backing, "Banjo" style probes, and small disc sensors for flat surfaces, leaves, or water baths.
• HDX Handle Compatibility: THX-700 series probes feature a 3-prong OTP-copper connector designed to work with the heavy duty HDX handle featuring a retractable cable.

Custom assemblies are available upon request for different ranges, lengths, and configurations through Custom Engineering. OMEGALOK® compression fittings are listed as an option accessory.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard phone plug connectors (OL-700 series) and OTP-copper 3-prong connectors for the THX-700 family. Model variations include:

• OL-701-PP / OL-702: General purpose water-resistant or small flexible vinyl sheath probes.
• OL-705-PP vs. OL-706-PP: Air temperature sensors where the OL-706 utilizes an economical plastic housing compared to the stainless steel construction of the OL-705.
• OL-703-PP / OL-710-PP: Tubular probes, with the OL-710 adding a pipe fitting for use in pipes or closed vessels.
• THX-700-GP-12 / THX-700-NP-12 / THX-700-AP-12: Heavy duty probes with 3.1 mm (1/8") OD 304 stainless steel sheaths, available as general purpose immersion, penetration for soft/frozen material and soil/sand, or air probe configurations with radiation hoods.
