Supported Applications
The Omega LCDC/LCMCD series consists of environmentally protected S-beam load cells designed for tension and compression applications. These units are engineered to measure force across a broad capacity envelope, ranging from 0-25 lb to 0-20,000 lb (0-10 kgf to 0-5000 kgf). The series is offered in both standard inch-pound models (LCDC) and metric kilogram-force models (LCMCD), providing a single solution for diverse measurement requirements.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The LCDC/LCMCD load cells operate within an ambient temperature range of -18 to 66°C (0 to 150°F). Constructed from 17-4 PH stainless steel, the series carries an IP67 enclosure rating for environmental protection. Electrical performance is defined by a bridge resistance of 350 Ω nominal and an output signal of 3.0 mV/V ±0.25%. The units require an excitation voltage of 10 Vdc (15 Vdc maximum).
Accuracy specifications documented for the series include:
- Linearity: 0.03% FS
- Hysteresis: ±0.05% FS
- Repeatability: 0.01% FS
- Creeep in 20 min: 0.03% FS
- Zero Balance: 1% FS
The series supports a maximum safe load of 150% and an ultimate load limit of 300%. Thermal effects are specified as 0.0027% FS/°C for zero and 0.0015% rdg/°C for span.
Configuration Options
The series is available with a standard electrical connection consisting of a 6 m (20') 4-conductor shielded 22-gage wire PVC cable. Process connections feature A Threads on both ends, with thread sizes varying by capacity to match the load rating.
Capacity and Thread Configurations
The series supports multiple capacities paired with specific UNF-2B or metric threads:
- Standard (lb): Capacities from 25 lb to 20,000 lb utilize thread sizes ranging from 1/4-28 UNF-2B up to 1-1/4-12 UNF-2B.
- Metric (kgf): Capacities from 10 kgf to 5,000 kgf utilize thread sizes ranging from M8 x 1.25-6H up to M20 x 1.5-6H.
Accessories and Options
The series is compatible with various load button models (LBC) and rod end models (REC), which are sold separately. Specific accessory compatibility includes:
- Load Button Models: LBC-014, LBC-038, LBC-012, LBC-034, LBC-100, MLBC-M8, MLBC-M12, MLBC-M20.
- Rod End Models: REC-014M, REC-038M, REC-012M, REC-034M, REC-100M, REC-114M, MREC-M8M, MREC-M12M, MREC-M20M.
Each unit includes a 5-point NIST-traceable calibration certificate and shunt data. The series is compatible with meters such as the DP25B-S, DP41-S, and DPIS (noting that the DPIS meter is suitable for one-direction measurement only).
Key Product Differences
The LCDC/LCMCD series distinguishes between standard inch-pound models (LCDC) and metric kilogram-force models (LCMCD). Model numbers follow a specific guide: LCDC/LCMCD - <CAPACITY>. For example, an LCDC-1K denotes a 1000 lb capacity load cell, while LCMCD-100 indicates a 100 kgf capacity. Physical dimensions (H, W, T1, T2) vary by capacity and thread size as detailed in the specification tables.
