Supported Applications

The Omega OMEGALUX® CIR series consists of high watt density cartridge heaters designed for use in applications involving molds, dies, platens, hot plates, and sealing operations. These units are engineered to provide efficient heat transfer within these specific industrial heating contexts.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CIR-38 series features an Incoloy sheath with a black oxide finish for efficient heat transfer and includes a welded, sealed tip. The maximum operating temperature is 816°C (1500°F). Construction is described as vibration and shock resistant.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configuration options across dimensions, power ratings, and electrical connections to accommodate specific installation requirements.

  • Dimensions: The sheath diameter is 3/8" (Actual Diameter and Tolerance: 0.373" ±0.005"). Overall lengths range from 1¼ to 24" (3 to 61 cm).
  • Power Ratings: Wattage varies by model, with specific watt density values provided in the selection table.
  • Voltage Options: Power supply is available at 120 or 240 Vac and must be specified at time of order. Model numbers containing "120" or "240" are only available in that specific voltage; other models require the user to designate voltage.
  • Electrical Connections: The series uses Type "F" connections with stranded, flexible manganese nickel wire insulated with fiberglass. Leads have a maximum temperature rating of 450°C (842°F) and a standard length of 14", though longer leads are available.
  • Connector Features: Connectors provide high reliability and longer life within the vibration and shock resistant construction.

Key Product Differences

Variants in this series differ primarily by length, wattage, and voltage designation. The model number guide follows the format CIR--, with examples such as CIR-2054/240 representing a 5" (13 cm) high watt density cartridge heater.

Weight varies by model, ranging from 0.05 lb (0.2 kg) to 0.90 lb (0.4 kg). A specific note applies to the series: ⅜" (1 cm) diameter CIR series cartridge heaters use 17 AWG stranded lead wire.
