Supported Applications

The Omega PX2300 Series consists of high-output, low differential pressure transducers designed for wet-to-wet measurement. These units are compatible with most media ranging from dry air to corrosive liquids and are intended for industrial applications where dependability in harsh environments is required. The series is specifically noted for measuring pressure drop across filters and other process devices.

Important usage constraints include:

  • Patient-connected prohibition: These products are not designed for use in, and should not be used for, patient-connected applications.
  • High line pressure configuration: For differential pressure measurements at high line pressures (250 psig max.), it is recommended to install the sensor with a valve in each line plus a shunt valve across the high and low pressure ports.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PX2300 Series delivers 4 to 20 mA output signals with an accuracy of ±0.25% RSS FS at constant temperature (includes linearity, repeatability, and hysteresis). The series supports a maximum line pressure rating of 250 psig.

Performance is influenced by environmental conditions:

  • Ambient Temperature: -1 to 65°C (30 to 149°F).
  • Process Temperature: -18 to 86°C (0 to 176°F).
  • Response Time: 50 ms (water).

The unit accuracy is affected during vibration, shock, and acceleration conditions. Specific gravity effects on zero shift are documented in the series data: for ranges ±0.5 psid through 2.0 psig, the effect is -2% FS per g with the high pressure port face up and +2% FS per g face down; for all other ranges, the effect is -1% FS per g (face up) or +1% FS per g (face down).

Zero shift may occur when high differential pressure is applied. The shift can be as much as ±10% FS with overpressure applied to the low port and may be recovered by a positive overpressure.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable measurement ranges in both uni-directional (DI) and bi-directional (BDI) formats. The available model numbers follow the pattern PX2300--.

  • Uni-directional Ranges: 0 to 1 psid, 0 to 2 psid, 0 to 5 psid, 0 to 10 psid, 0 to 25 psid, 0 to 50 psid, and 0 to 100 psid.
  • Bi-directional Ranges: ±0.5 psid, ±1 psid, ±2.5 psid, ±5 psid, ±10 psid, ±25 psid, and ±50 psid.

The transducers feature 1/4-18 NPT internal fittings for both high and low pressure ports. Wetted materials include 17-4 stainless steel, 300 series stainless steel, FKM (Viton), and silicone O-rings. The electronics are housed in a NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure with an overall weight of 410 g (14.4 oz).

Electrical specifications include:

  • Power Supply: 24 Vdc nominal; minimum and maximum limits depend on loop resistance.
  • Load Resistance: 0 to 1000 Ω.
  • Electrical Connection: Internal barrier strip with a 22.2 mm (0.875") conduit opening.

The series is calibrated with the diaphragm in the vertical position (pressure ports horizontal). For other orientations, zero adjustment is required. Metric thread adaptors and snubbers are available as options.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PX2300 Series differ primarily by their measurement range directionality and span:

  • Uni-directional (DI): Models such as PX2300-1DI, PX2300-5DI, etc., measure from 0 to a positive psid value.
  • Bi-directional (BDI): Models such as PX2300-0.5BDI, PX2300-5BDI, etc., measure symmetric ranges around zero (e.g., -5 to 5 psid).

All variants share the same NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure rating, wetted materials, and electrical output characteristics. The series carries CE approval and a 1 YEAR WARRANTY.
