Supported Applications

The FL600 Series is a family of high-accuracy variable-area flow meters from OMEGA, built for measuring the flow of water and air in industrial and laboratory lines. A heavy-duty 304 SS frame, borosilicate glass metering tube, and a clear polycarbonate safety shield make the meter both rugged and easy to read at a glance, with direct-reading scales calibrated in GPM for water or SCFM for air.

Designed for vertical mounting with 316 SS in-line fittings, the series suits process water monitoring, cooling and dosing lines, compressed-air and gas metering, and general utility flow indication. A unique float-stop design lets the internal float be replaced for maintenance without disturbing the tube or shield, and NIST-traceable calibration is available where documented accuracy is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

FL600 meters read flow to an accuracy of ±3% of full scale with ±1% repeatability. Water models cover 0.74 to 116.00 GPM and air models 3.0 to 250.0 SCFM, with each model factory-scaled to its own maximum for a clear, direct reading across the range.

The meters are rated for a process temperature up to 93°C (200°F) and air-model working pressures of 125 to 250 psig depending on size. The wetted parts use 316 SS fittings, a borosilicate glass tube, and EPR O-rings, while a 4.76 mm thick polycarbonate shield guards the tube. Glass-tube meters should not be used with strong or hot alkalis, fluorines, hydrofluoric acid, steam, or water above 200°F (104°C).

The meters mount vertically and are offered in 1/2", 1", and 2" FNPT connection sizes. Overall dimensions scale with the body, with the C dimension spanning 65 mm (2.6 in) to 137 mm (5.4 in) and the F dimension from 302 mm (11.9 in) to 406 mm (16 in) across the connection sizes. Each meter carries a 1 year warranty and is RoHS compliant.

Configuration Options

The FL600 Series differs across its models along a few clear lines while sharing the same stainless-steel frame and float-stop design:

  • Media and scale — water models read directly in GPM, while air models read directly in SCFM, each with its own maximum flow.
  • Float guide type“G” models use rib-guided floats and “P” models use pole-guided floats, matched to the flow range of the meter.
  • Connection size — bodies are built for 1/2", 1", or 2" FNPT to suit the line and the target flow.
  • Calibration — standard direct-reading scales, with optional NIST-traceable calibration added through a -NIST 5PT (5-point) or -NIST 10PT (10-point) suffix.

Because larger flows call for larger bores, the higher-capacity models step up in connection size and shift from rib-guided “G” floats to pole-guided “P” floats, so the choice of model is driven by the media, the required maximum flow, and the pipe size.

  • FL610G — 3.0 SCFM maximum, 1/2" FNPT, 250 psig.
  • FL611G — 8.2 SCFM maximum, 1/2" FNPT, 250 psig.
  • FL612G — 21.5 SCFM maximum, 1" FNPT, 200 psig.
  • FL613P — 90.0 SCFM maximum, 1" FNPT, 200 psig.
  • FL614P — 250.0 SCFM maximum, 2" FNPT, 125 psig.
  • FL615P — 245.0 SCFM maximum, 2" FNPT, 125 psig.

All models follow the FL600 Series numbering, where the model type and size/model code identify the media, float guide, and connection size, and any NIST-traceable calibration is added as an ordering suffix.
