Supported Applications

The Omega PX602, PX603, PX605, PX612, PX613, and PX615 series are sealed pressure transducers designed for industrial pressure measurement applications. These units utilize chemical vapor deposited polysilicon strain gages to measure liquid or gas media across a broad range of pressures.

Documented capabilities include:

  • Vacuum to 20,000 psi (1380 bar) pressure ranges
  • Liquid and gas service compatibility
  • Industrial process monitoring requiring millivolt, voltage, or current outputs

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series delivers an accuracy of ±0.4% FS (BFSL), encompassing linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability. Hysteresis is specified at ±0.2% FS with a repeatability of ±0.07% FS. The response time for the transducers is 5ms.

Operating temperature limits are defined as follows:

  • Process Temperature: -20° to 180°F (-28° to 82°C)
  • Ambient Operating Temperature (PX605/PX615): -28 to 71°C (-20 to 160°F)
  • Compensated Temperature: -28° to 160°F (-28° to 71°C)

Storage temperature ranges from −65° to 250°F (−53° to 121°C). Thermal effects on zero and span are ±0.04% FS/°F.

Mechanical durability specifications include:

  • Shock Rating: <±0.05% FS effect at 100 G's, 20msec shock in any axis
  • Vibration Rating: <±0.1% FS effect for 0-2000 Hz @ 20G's in any axis
  • Fatigue Life: 100 million cycles at 20/80% FS with negligible performance loss

Pressure limits vary by range. For the 15-2000 PSI range, proof pressure is 200% FS and burst pressure is 800% FS. For the 3000-5000 PSI range, proof pressure is 150% FS and burst pressure is 300% FS. For the 7500-20,000 PSI range, proof pressure is 120% FS and burst pressure is 150% FS.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable output signals, electrical connections, and process interfaces to accommodate diverse installation requirements. The housing material is NEMA 4X (304 SS) or NEMA 4 (IP65), with wetted parts constructed from 17-4 PH stainless steel diaphragm and 300 Series stainless steel case.

Output Signals & Electrical Specifications

  • PX602/PX612: Millivolt output (100mV ±1mV) with 10Vdc excitation (5-10Vdc limit @ 6mA max). Output impedance is 100Ω.
  • PX603/PX613: Voltage output (1-5Vdc, 3 wire) with 24Vdc excitation (10-36Vdc range). Supply current is <3mA; output impedance is 1000Ω.
  • PX605/PX615: Current output (4-20mA, 2 wire) with 24Vdc excitation (10-36Vdc range). Maximum loop resistance is calculated as 50 x (supply voltage -10)Ω.

Mechanical & Connection Options

  • Process Connections: Standard models feature a ⅛-18 NPT pressure port. Models rated for 15,000 to 20,000 PSI utilize a female AMINCO fitting (⅜-18 UNF).
  • Cable & Connector Styles: PX60x models are supplied with a cable; the braided shield is not connected to the transducer body. PX61x models feature connector options, specifically PT06F8-4S (sold separately for mating). The 0.9 m (36") braided shield PVC cable or connector style is available.
  • Dimensions: All units measure 0.8 inches square with an overall length of 3.780 to 3.8 inches (96.012 mm). Weight without cable is approximately 2 oz, while the PX605/PX615 series weighs 4.5 oz (128 g) without cable.

Calibration and testing are performed using instrumentation traceable to NIST standards, complying with MIL-STD-45662. Zero and span adjustments are accessible via pots located inside the case; zero is marked with a white dot.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes models by output type (millivolt, voltage, current) and electrical interface style (cable vs. connector).

  • PX60x Series: Cable-style transducers with a 36" braided shield PVC cable.
  • PX61x Series: Connector-style transducers designed for use with the PT06F8-4S mating connector (sold separately).

Model numbering indicates output type: PX602/PX612 are millivolt; PX603/PX613 are voltage; PX605/PX615 are current. Range codes in the model number specify pressure span, including vacuum ranges (e.g., 30VACI for Vacuum to 0 psig) and gauge pressures up to 20,000 psi.

Specific construction notes include that PX605 models ≤500 psi are vented to room air. For high-pressure applications (15,000-20,000 PSI), the sensor is supplied with a female AMINCO fitting rather than NPT threads. A pressure snubber (e.g., PS-4) is recommended for installation to protect against fluid hammer and surges.
