Supported Applications

The Omega LSHD series consists of fully submersible, waterproof low profile load cells designed for wet or submerged applications. These compression-calibrated sensors feature hermetically sealed construction suitable for washdown environments and processes requiring resistance to moisture ingress.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The LSHD series covers a measurement range of 5 to 500,000 lb (2.3 kgf to 225T*), with capacities calibrated in compression. Accuracy specifications vary by capacity: ranges ≤ 25 lb provide ± 0.2% FSO linearity and ± 0.1% FSO hysteresis; ranges > 25 lb offer ± 0.1% FSO linearity and ± 0.08% FSO hysteresis. Repeatability is specified as ± 0.1% FSO for capacities ≤ 25 lb and ± 0.03% FSO for capacities > 25 lb.

Operating temperature spans -18 to 82°C (0 to 180°F), with a compensated temperature range of 15 to 71°C (60 to 160°F). Thermal effects are rated at ± 0.0036% rdg/°C for span and ± 0.0036% FSO/°C for zero balance. The series supports a safe overload of 150% capacity and an ultimate overload of 300% capacity.

Electrical performance includes a nominal load resistance of 350 Ω, with output signals of 2 mV/V ± 1% (for ranges ≤ 25 lb) or 3 mV/V ± 1% (for ranges > 25 lb). Excitation voltage is rated at 10 Volts, with a maximum of 15 Vdc. Each unit includes a 5-point NIST traceable calibration certificate.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and process connections based on capacity requirements:

• Housing & Materials: All stainless steel construction with an IP68 enclosure rating for submersible use.
• Process Connections (T-Threads): Available sizes include ¼-28UNF-2B, ⅜-24UNF-2B, ½-20UNF-2B, 1-14UNS-2B, 1½-12UNF-2B, 2-12UNF-2B, 2½-12UN-2B, and 3½-8UN-2B.
• Dimensions: Overall height (H) ranges from 20 mm (0.80 in) to 108 mm (4.25 in); diameter (D) spans 64 mm (2.50 in) to 356 mm (14.00 in).
• Cable Options: Standard configuration includes a 3 m (10') submersible cable with waterproof high pressure molded connection; custom lengths are available up to 91.4 m (300').
• Special Configurations: A ± 5 Vdc output option is available for the 75k range (calibrated 0 to 5 Vdc in tension) with suffix "-5T"; dual bridge configurations and overload stops are offered upon consultation.

Key Product Differences

The LSHD series is identified by model numbers following the pattern LSHD - <CAPACITY>, such as LSHD-5, LSHD-10K, or LSHD-500K. Dimensional profiles change at specific capacity thresholds: units from 5 to 25 lb utilize a ¼-28UNF-2B thread and measure 64 mm (2.50 in) in diameter; capacities between 75,000 and 100,000 lb feature a 2 - 12UNF-2B connection with a 229 mm (9.00 in) diameter.

For ranges over 300,000 lb, calibration is performed at the 300,000 lb point. Metric models are available through sales consultation for specific model numbers and delivery details.
