Supported Applications
The Omega OS212 Series consists of compact non-contact infrared temperature sensors designed to measure the surface temperatures of inaccessible or moving objects and materials. The series provides a linear output signal compatible with indicators, controllers, recorders, and data loggers without requiring special interfacing or signal conditioning.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The OS212 Series measures process temperatures across three ranges: -20 to 100°C (-4 to 212°F), 0 to 250°C (32 to 482°F), and 0 to 500°C (32 to 932°F). Accuracy is specified as ±1% of reading or ±1°C whichever is greater, with repeatability of ±0.5% of reading or ±0.5°C whichever is greater. The sensors operate within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F) and a relative humidity limit of 95% max non-condensing.
Performance characteristics include a response time of 240 mS (90% response) and a spectral range of 8 to 14 μm. The sensors are constructed from stainless steel with an IP65 environmental rating. Electrical requirements specify a supply voltage of 24 Vdc (28 Vdc max), a minimum sensor voltage of 6 Vdc, and a maximum loop impedance of 900 Ω for the 4 to 20 mA output.
Configuration Options
The series is available in four optical configurations identified by model prefixes: OS212 (2:1 optics), OS152 (15:1 optics), OS302 (30:1 optics), and OS802 (close-focus, ø5mm @ 100mm). Each optic supports the three temperature ranges denoted by suffixes -LT, -MT, or -HT. The standard sensor dimensions are 103 L x 18 mm D (4.05 x 0.71") with an M16 x 1 mm pitch thread mounting and a 1 m cable.
Configurable Emissivity
Emissivity is adjustable from 0.2 to 1.0 via a 4 to 20 mA input, allowing automatic adjustment from a programmable logic controller (PLC). If the 4-20 mA input is left open or short-circuited, the emissivity setting defaults to 0.95. Manual adjustment is available using the optional OS210-PT Tune Emissivity Adjuster.
Options and Accessories

- Housing options: Air/water cooled jacket (-WC suffix), which includes an air purge collar and must be ordered with the sensor.
