Supported Applications
The Omega CSF2 Series consists of ceramic insulated finned strip heaters designed for air heating and thermal processing applications. Documented uses include duct heating, space heaters, drying ovens, food warmers, dehumidifiers, shrinking tunnels, and heat curing processes.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The CSF2 series features a maximum sheath temperature of 650°C (1200°F). Electrical specifications support voltages up to 480 Vac (when applicable) with a maximum amperage of 25 A. Wattage tolerance is specified as 5%, -10% and resistance tolerance as 10%, -5%. Performance ratings vary by air condition:
- Still Air – Up to 149°C (300°F): Maximum watt density of 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in².
- Still Air – 149 to 316°C (300 to 600°F): Maximum watt density of 2.5 Watt/cm², 16 Watt/in².
- Still Air – 316 to 427°C (600 to 800°F): Maximum watt density of 1.6 Watt/cm², 10 Watt/in².
- Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 93°C (600'/minute, up to 200°F): Maximum watt density of 6.2 Watt/cm², 40 Watt/in².
- Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 204°C (600'/minute, up to 400°F): Maximum watt density of 4.7 Watt/cm², 30 Watt/in².
- Moving Air – At 3 m/sec, up to 316°C (600'/minute, up to 600°F): Maximum watt density of 3.1 Watt/cm², 20 Watt/in².
Configuration Options
The CSF2 series is constructed with a helically wound resistance coil in a ceramic insulator housed within stainless steel rectangular tubing (sheath material: 304 stainless steel). Voids are filled with high-purity magnesium oxide. Fins are nickel-plated steel, with stainless steel fins available as an option.

Electrical connections utilize screw terminals with stainless steel 10-32 UNF threads. The series supports various termination options, including Type C – Terminal Box and Type P – High Temperature Quick Disconnect Plug.
Key Product Differences
The CSF2 model number guide follows the format CSF<length_code><voltage_code>, with examples such as CSF00133 (900 watt, 120 Vac). Available configurations in the T2 Termination grid include lengths ranging from 266.7 mm (10½") to 774.7 mm (30½"), offering power outputs between 725 and 2800 watts at 120V or 240 Vac.
Secondary insulating bushings are required when the finned heater is connected in series or in direct line voltage above 300V. When these bushings (Model Number: CERR-1001) are used, a slot size of 13 x 16 mm (½ x ⅝") substitutes for the standard mounting slot. Igloo™ Ceramic Covers (Types C6, C7, C8; Model Numbers: CER-101-104, CER-101-106, CER-101-107) and a ceramic cap thread 10-32 (Model Number: CER-102-101) are offered as accessories. Custom heaters can be manufactured for tighter tolerances or specific requirements.
