Supported Applications

The Omega Extruder RTD Probes with Compression or Bayonet Fittings are designed for plastic process machinery. These probes feature precision 100 Ω Class 'A' DIN platinum elements housed in a 4.75 mm (3/16") diameter 304 stainless steel sheath, intended for temperature measurement within extruder systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series supports continuous operation at process temperatures up to 260°C (500°F). An optional cable rated for extended service is available for applications requiring monitoring up to 480°C (900°F). The sensor element meets IEC CLASS A accuracy specifications, with a stated tolerance of ±0.15°C @ 0°C.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable dimensions and connection types to accommodate specific extruder geometries and control interfaces.

  • Housing & Fittings: Available with Bayonet Fittings (BT) or Compression Fittings (CF). BTC Adaptors are offered for compression fittings, while adaptors for insertion and pipe clamp are available for bayonet types.
  • Bend Configuration: Probes are configured as straight assemblies or 90° bend assemblies. Model number codes indicate "No Bend" (000) or "90° Bend" (090).
  • Insertion Lengths: The "A" dimension varies by model, with standard lengths including 50 mm (2") and 100 mm (4") for compression fittings, and 60 mm (2.36) or 90 mm (3.54) for bayonet fittings.
  • Termination Options: Electrical connections are provided via spade lugs or OTP connectors. Dual element configurations are available in select models.
  • Cable Specifications: Standard units include a 1.5 m (60") flex cable with BX armor. Custom lengths can be specified by modifying the model number, subject to additional cost per foot over 5' (60").
  • Materials: The sheath is constructed of 304 Stainless Steel; internal wiring utilizes nickel-plated copper stranded wire.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two primary fitting families with distinct model number constructions. Bayonet Fitting models (BT) follow the format: BT — — RTD — <"A" Length> — — . Compression Fitting models (CF) use a similar structure but may include additional suffixes such as "-CC". For example, a bayonet model is designated BT-090-RTD-2 1/4-60-1, while a compression variant appears as CF-000-RTD-2-60-1-CC.

Model number segments define specific physical attributes: the bend code (000 or 090), the "A" length in inches or millimeters (e.g., 2, 3, 4 for compression; 1/4, 1/2 for bayonet), and cable length in inches. Termination codes identify spade lugs as option "1" and OTP connectors as option "2", with other options available upon request.
