Supported Applications

The Omega FSW300 Series consists of economical flow switches designed for the minimum or maximum monitoring of liquid flows in industrial applications. The series utilizes a paddle system with an integrated permanent magnet to actuate a reed contact, ensuring operational safety by verifying that monitored fluid is present within specified limits.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FSW301 insertion-style switch and the brass inline models (FSW302–304) support a maximum process temperature of 110°C (230°F) and an ambient temperature up to 80°C (176°F). These variants are rated for pressures up to 25 bar (365 psi), with the PVC inline models (FSW305–307) limited to a maximum pressure of 10 bar (145 psi) and temperatures of 60°C (140°F).

Performance characteristics include an instant response time, high repeatability, and a set point tolerance of ±15%. The reed contact construction allows for a useful life of up to 100,000,000 switching cycles. Electrical ratings support a maximum switching current of 1 A at voltages up to 230 Vac or 48 Vdc (maximum rating: 26 VA, 20 W). The enclosure protection class is IP65.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable flow monitoring across pipe sizes ranging from ½" to 8", with specific setpoint ranges defined by the model and connection type. Available configurations include:

  • Housing Materials: Brass bodies for FSW301–304; Polypropylene/Noryl® bodies with PVC pipe sections for FSW305–307.
  • Paddle System & Shaft: Constructed from PPO (NORYL), 1.4571 stainless steel, or combinations thereof depending on the model series.
  • Process Connections: Insertion style with a ½-14 NPT connection for FSW301; inline brass tees for FSW302 (½"), FSW303 (¾"), and FSW304 (1"); inline PVC tees for FSW305–307.
  • Electrical Interface: DIN 43650 form A/ISO 4400 cable socket with terminal screws, suitable for outer cable diameters of 4.57 to 6.85 mm (0.18 to 0.27").
  • Accessories: The series supports the optional addition of a 70A-2 fast pulse tone audible alarm.

Key Product Differences

The FSW301 is an insertion-style flow switch designed for pipes from ¾" to 8", offering setpoint ranges such as 97 (26) to 107 (28.2) LPM (GPM) for a 4" pipe and up to 500 (132) GPM for an 8" pipe. The FSW302, FSW303, and FSW304 are inline brass tee switches with lower flow ranges: 3.4 to 4.2 LPM (GPM) for the ½" model up to 13.2 to 16.7 LPM (GPM) for the 1" model.

The FSW305, FSW306, and FSW307 models utilize PVC pipe sections and Polypropylene/Noryl® bodies, intended for lower pressure applications with setpoint ranges from 4.9 to 6.8 LPM (GPM) up to 10.6 to 14.8 LPM (GPM). All variants feature an adjustable switch point and low pressure drop design.
