Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series 1230 and 1235 Flex-Tube Well Type Manometers are direct reading single column instruments designed to measure pressure, vacuum, or differential pressure. These manometers utilize a well-type configuration with shatter-proof clear plastic tubing permanently bonded to solid acrylic plastic well assemblies.
Applications include measuring positive, negative, and differential pressures using either water/mercury (W/M models) or Dwyer .826 specific gravity red gage fluid (D models). The series is rated for pressure up to 100 psig (6.89 bar).
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series 1230 and 1235 manometers are constructed with leak-proof glued joints and include over-pressure safety traps to protect against fluid loss. The instruments feature scales adjusted via a quick-acting positive mechanism.
- Pressure Rating: Rated to 100 psig (6.89 bar).
- Vacuum Limitation: Not recommended for vacuum service beyond 5" Hg (68 in w.c.).
- Measurement Ranges: Available scales include 0-8, 0-12, 0-16, 0-20, 0-24, and 0-36 inches of Water or Mercury.
- Wetted Materials: Shatter-proof clear plastic tubing; solid acrylic plastic well assemblies.
Note: For models using .826 S.P. gage fluid, the suffix changes from -W/M to a -D in the model designation.
Configuration Options
- Model Families: Series 1230 (scales up to 0-36 inches) and Series 1235 (specific scale configurations).
- Sensor Fluid Types: Water/Mercury (-W/M suffix) or .826 sp. gr. red gage fluid (-D suffix).
- Optional Certification: NIST traceable calibration certificate available with the -NIST option.
Standard Accessories and Replacement Parts
The series includes standard accessories: one set of type "a" connections, .826 sp. gr. red gage fluid for "D" style or fluorescein green dye concentrate with wetting agent for "W/M" styles, two 3 ft lengths of clear vinyl tubing, and two 1/8" NPT tubing adapters.
Replacement parts include Red gage fluid (part # A-101), Fluorescein green color concentrate (part # A-126), and a Cleaning brush (part # A-366).
Key Product Differences
The Series 1230 and 1235 differ primarily in available scale ranges and physical dimensions. The model number guide follows the format 1230-<SCALE>-W/M. Specific dimensional variations (Dimensions A, W/M, D) correspond to each scale range as detailed in the specification grid.
Differences between fluid types are indicated by the suffix: -W/M denotes water/mercury models requiring fluorescein green dye concentrate with wetting agent, while -D denotes .826 sp. gr. red gage fluid models. Mercury fill weights vary by model scale (e.g., 12 oz for 0-8 inch range up to 26 oz for the 0-36 inch range).
Installation notes specify reading vertical ranges on the right leg with the manometer vertical and inclining the unit to zero for low-range readings. Users should avoid harsh soaps, solvents, or fluids other than those specified to prevent damage.
