Supported Applications

The Omega SSRDUAL Series consists of dual solid-state relays designed for switching AC loads with a DC input. The series integrates two totally independent AC output relays into a single standard panel mount package. These units utilize an inverse-parallel SCR output design featuring integral dV/dt snubber circuitry to limit the rate of rise of voltage transients and prevent false triggering.

Key operational characteristics include zero volt turn-on and zero current turn-off, which substantially reduce EMI and RFI during load switching. The series is available in two configurations: a 25 A dual SSR output (model SSRLDUAL240DC25) and a 40 A dual SSR output (model SSRLDUAL240DC40).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The relays operate within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F) and can be stored between -40 to 100°C (-40 to 212°F). The housing material is UL 94V-0 self-extinguishing plastic. Electrical isolation specifications include 4000 Vrms from input to output and 2500 Vrms from input/output to ground, with a typical input-to-output capacitance of 8 pF.

Performance parameters for the series are defined as follows:

  • Operating Frequency: 47 to 63 Hz
  • Output Voltage Range (Vrms): 24 to 280 Vac
  • Peak Voltage (t = 1 Minute): 550 Vpk
  • Off-State Leakage: 0.1 mArms at maximum line voltage and Ta = 25°C
  • Turn-On Time / Turn-Off Time: 8.33 ms (typical)
  • Static Off-State dv/dt: 500 V/μs at Ta = 25°C

Note: Random SSR turn-on occurs in less than 100 μs.

Current Ratings and Surge Limits

  • Output Current (Mounted on Proper Heat Sink): DC25 model supports 25 A; DC40 model supports 40 A.
  • Minimum Load Current: 100 mArms
  • Maximum 1-Cycle Surge Current (Apk, Ta = 25°C): 500 Apk for DC25; 780 Apk for DC40.
  • I²T Rating (60 Hz, ½ Cycle): 1041 A²s for DC25; 2435 A²s for DC40.

Configuration Options

The SSRDUAL Series is configured via specific model numbers that define the output current rating. The series supports a standard electrical connection using the CX136-4 connector, which is listed as an accessory option.

  • Housing: Standard panel mount package with overall dimensions of 57 x 48 x 23 mm (2.25 x 1.88 x 0.89 inch).
  • Input Power Supply: 4 to 15 Vdc
  • Drop-Out Voltage: 1 Vdc
  • Input Current Range: Minimum 7.5 mA (for On-State) to Maximum 34 mA.
  • Input Resistance: 500 Ω

The series includes approvals and certifications from UL, cUL, CSA, CE, and RoHS compliance.

Key Product Differences

Differences between the two primary variants are defined by their current handling capacity and associated thermal characteristics:

  • SSRLDUAL240DC25 (25 A): Features a forward voltage drop of 1.4 Vpk @ Imax, Ta = 25°C; Thermal Resistance Junction to Baseplate (Rjb) is 0.6 °C/W.
  • SSRLDUAL240DC40 (40 A): Features a forward voltage drop of 1.3 Vpk @ Imax, Ta = 25°C; Thermal Resistance Junction to Baseplate (Rjb) is 0.4 °C/W.
