Supported Applications

The Omega NHXH/NHX series comprises Ceramic Ultra High-Temperature Standard Size Connectors designed for high-temperature applications, including high vacuum furnaces. These connectors are engineered to interface with thermocouple systems across a broad range of alloys.

  • Type K (CHROMEGA®/ALOMEGA®)
  • Type T (Copper/Constantan)
  • Type J (Iron/Constantan)
  • Type E (CHROMEGA®/Constantan)
  • Types R/S (Copper/RNX-SNX)
  • Type C (CPX/CNX) — Solid Pin only
  • Type U (Uncompensated, used with Type B thermocouples)
  • Type N (OMEGA-P®/OMEGA-N®)

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series is rated for an operating temperature range of -29 to 650°C (-20 to 1200°F). Constructed from High Purity Alumina Ceramic, the connectors feature a one-piece body design. The female connector body dimensions match those of the male connector below it.

  • Body Height: 38.1 mm (1.5 in)
  • Body Width: 16.0 mm (0.63 in)
  • Body Depth: 25.4 mm (1.0 in)
  • Pin Diameter: 2.5 mm (0.1 in) — Hollow Pin Design
  • Wire Access Hole Diameter: 6.35 mm (0.25 in)

Configuration Options

The series offers two primary electrical connection designs to suit different mechanical requirements:

  • Hollow Pin Design: Described as an economical option, available under model prefixes NHXH and UHXH.
  • Solid Pin Design: Characterized as extra heavy duty, available under model prefixes NHX and UHX. Note that Type C connectors are only offered in the Solid Pin design (NHX-C).

Connectors are permanently or removably color-coded to conform to ANSI standards using specific dot colors for each alloy type. The series supports both male and female configurations, with mating compatibility defined as NHXH male connecting to NHX female.

Ordering Configuration

  • Model Number Format: NHXH/UHXH - <Alloy Code> - <Pin Type> - <Gender>
  • Removable Color Dot Option: Change the prefix "NHX" to "UHX" or "NHXH" to "UHXH" in the model number.
  • Gender Specification: Specify "M" for male connector only, or "F" for female connector only.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between standard and removable color dot versions via the U-prefix (UHX/UHXH). The hollow pin design is available for Types K, T, J, E, R/S, U, and N. Type C connectors are restricted to the solid pin configuration. ANSI color coding varies by alloy: Yellow for K, Blue for T, Black for J, Purple for E, Green for R/S, Red for C, White for U, and Orange for N.
