Supported Applications

The Omega CRE and CRR E-Mitters are modular glass face panel radiant process heaters designed for applications requiring safe, clean heat without visible light. These hollow ceramic heaters feature thin-wall construction to facilitate fast heating and cooling cycles while maintaining low element surface temperatures. Documented typical applications include plastic thermoforming, curing adhesives, dental composites, laboratory samples, pet comfort, moisture prevention in control boxes and lockers, resistor banks, and agricultural uses.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates at a standard supply voltage of 120 Vac with an ambient operating temperature of 22°C (72°F). The heaters emit infrared radiation in the 3.5 to 7 µm wavelength range and are not affected by vibration, offering high mechanical strength. Surface temperatures vary by model configuration; typical values listed in specification tables range from a low of 400°F (204°C) for specific CRR models up to a maximum of 986°F (530°C) for the CRE10002 and CRE00002 variants. Watt density ratings across the series span from 5.71 W/in² (0.88 W/cm²) to 22.98 W/in² (4.02 W/cm²), depending on diameter, wattage, and model selection.

Key Performance Characteristics

  • Infrared Emission: 3.5 to 7 µm wavelength range.
  • Vibration Resistance: Not affected by vibration; high mechanical strength.
  • Ambient Operating Temperature: 22°C (72°F).
  • Power Supply: 120 Vac.

Configuration Options

The CRE-CRR series is available in multiple configurations defined by diameter, wattage, and color. The heaters utilize a screw-in bulb base (E26 Type Base) for electrical connection. Standard colors include reversible rose-to-grey or white; optional custom colors such as yellow and black are noted in the ordering instructions.

Dimensional Envelope

The series supports various overall dimensions to accommodate different installation requirements:

  • Diameters: 60 mm, 75 mm, 90 mm, and 120 mm.
  • Heights: Ranging from 3.74" (95 mm) to 5.12" (130 mm), depending on the specific diameter and model.

Model Families and Ratings

The series includes two primary families with distinct performance profiles:

  • CRE E-Mitters: Available in 60, 75, and 90 mm diameters. Wattages range from 60 W to 250 W at 120 Vac. Models are offered in Rose-to-Grey or White finishes.
  • CRR E-Mitters: Available in 75, 90, and 120 mm diameters. Wattages range from 60 W to 200 W at 120 Vac. Standard finish is White.

Custom Engineering Options

Beyond standard catalog models, Omega offers custom engineered and manufactured CRE and CRR bulb style ceramic infrared heaters for specific requirements regarding sizes and ratings not listed in the standard series tables.

Key Product Differences

The primary distinction between the two families lies in their dimensional ranges and available wattage steps. The CRE family includes models with reversible color change (Rose to Grey) or White, while CRR E-Mitters are listed as Color-White only in standard configurations.

CRE vs. CRR Specifications

  • Diameter Availability: CRE models cover 60 mm through 90 mm; CRR models extend to a larger maximum diameter of 120 mm while starting at 75 mm.
  • Wattage Range: The highest wattage in the standard series is found in the CRE family (up to 250 W), whereas CRR models top out at 200 W for the 90 mm diameter and lower densities are available for larger diameters.
  • Surface Temperature: Typical surface temperatures vary significantly by model. For example, a 60 mm CRE unit may reach 842°F (450°C) at 60 W or 887°F (477°C) at 100 W, while a 90 mm CRR unit reaches up to 950°F (510°C) at 200 W.

Ordering requires specification of size (overall dimensions or series code), color (standard rose/white; optional yellow/black), and wattage based on the process temperature required. The cRUus approval certification applies to the series.
