Product Overview
  • Operating Temperature, Max 870 °C
  • Series ID QG-HEATER

Supported Applications

The Omega QG Series Black Ceramic Glass Radiant Infrared Panel Heaters are designed to provide uniform infrared coverage from the emitter face, eliminating uneven heating of the working surface. These heaters utilize a solid black Ceran™ glass as the emitter face and are intended for radiant heat only; material must not come into direct contact with the heater face. Documented applications include paint drying, plastic coating curing, laminating, textile drying, silk screen printing, and thermoforming.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The QG Series is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 1600°F (870°C). The heaters are assembled using screws to allow for easy replacement of the glass in the field. Electrical configurations support single-phase power at 120, 240 and 480 Vac, as well as dual voltage options including 120/240 and 240/480 Vac.

CAUTION: Hazard of fire exists if these radiant heater panels are operated in the presence of flammable vapors, gases, or combustible materials without proper ventilation. Fire and electrical shock may result if products are used improperly or installed by non-qualified personnel. It is recommended that overtemperature control be used to prevent overheating.

Configuration Options

The series offers a modular design allowing for easy addition of units and placement in different configurations. The QG Series heaters feature an aluminized steel housing with a junction box cover measuring 102 x 102 mm (4 x 4 in). Electrical connections utilize jumper connections for voltage and phase configuration.

Available sizes range from 152 x 305 mm (6" x 12") up to 610 x 610 mm (24" x 24"). Specific dimensions are provided in figures A, B, E, F, and G within the product documentation. The series supports optional temperature monitoring via a detachable bayonet type fitting for use with a spring-loaded thermocouple.

  • Dimensions: Sizes from 152 x 305 mm (6" x 12") to 610 x 610 mm (24" x 24").
  • Housing Material: Aluminized steel.
  • Emitter Face: Solid black Ceran™ glass.
  • Voltage Options: 120, 240 and 480 Vac; dual voltage 120/240 and 240/480 Vac (single phase).

Options & Accessories

The following options are available to support temperature monitoring:

  • Temperature Probe Option ('T'): Detachable, bayonet type fitting for a spring-loaded thermocouple.
  • Type K Thermocouple (QG Series): OMEGA Part No. QSK#1036/BT-090-K-4-1/2-60-1.
  • Digital Clamp Meter: Model HHM59 DMM/ac Clamp Meter/Digital Thermometer.

Key Product Differences

The QG Series is distinguished within the OMEGALUX family by its use of solid black Ceran™ glass, whereas other series utilize different emitter materials. The QF Series uses bonded high-temperature cloth quartz; the QC and QH Series use fused quartz glass.

Maximum operating temperatures differ across the family: the QG and QF Series are rated to 1600°F (870°C), while the QC and QH Series are rated to 1800°F (981°C). Model numbers follow a structure of QG-_/, with specific wattage determined by dimensions, voltage, and phase configuration.
