Supported Applications
The Omega OM-CP-TC101A is a dual-channel data logger from the NOMAD® family designed for ambient temperature monitoring and remote thermocouple measurements. It supports field deployment with programmable high/low alarms, memory wrap-around functionality, and ultra-high-speed download capabilities via USB interface.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The device operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F) with a humidity rating of 0 to 95% RH non-condensing. It features dual-channel capability: one internal channel for ambient temperature and one remote input accepting thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, and N.
Performance specifications vary by sensor type:
- Ambient Channel: Range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F) with ±0.5°C (0.9°F) accuracy and 0.1°C resolution.
- Type J, K, T, E, N Thermocouples: Accuracy of ±0.5°C; ranges span from -270 to 1370°C depending on type.
- Type R, S, B Thermocouples: Accuracy of ±2.0°C with a resolution of 0.5°C and high-temperature capability up to 1820°C for Type B.
The logger offers a memory capacity of 1,000,000 readings at a reading rate as fast as 1 second. Power is supplied by a user-replaceable 3.6V lithium battery with an estimated life of 10 years.
Configuration Options
The series supports various configuration options and accessories to extend functionality for specific environments or compliance needs:
- Housing Options: The standard unit features ABS plastic. A weatherproof NEMA 4 (IP65) enclosure (OM-CP-WATERBOX101A), constructed from black anodized aluminum, is available separately for outdoor or harsh environments.
- Data Retrieval & Software: Data retrieval requires the OM-CP-IFC200 Windows software and 1.8 m (6') USB interface cable. The device supports real-time monitoring, graphical/tabular display, and export to Excel.
- Compliance Options: An FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliant IQ/OQ/PQ secure software validation workbook is available as the OM-CP-SVP-SYSTEM package.
- Maintenance & Calibration: Replacement batteries (OM-CP-BAT105) and optional NIST calibration certificates (model suffix -CERT) are offered. A maintenance kit for the waterproof enclosure is also available.
The thermocouple input utilizes a female subminiature (SMP) connector. The device dimensions are 36 L x 56 W x 16 mm D (1.4 x 2.2 x 0.6") for the logger alone, and 74 H x 148 W x 39 mm D (2.9 x 5.8 x 1.5") when installed in the waterproof enclosure.
Key Product Differences
The primary model distinction within this series is the inclusion of an optional NIST calibration certificate, designated by the suffix -CERT (e.g., OM-CP-TC101A-CERT). The base unit includes a battery life indicator and free firmware upgrades. Thermocouple accuracy specifications assume the use of 24 AWG wire.
