Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series VF Visi-Float® Acrylic Flowmeters are direct reading, precision machined instruments designed for gas and liquid flow measurement. The series provides clear acrylic bodies suitable for applications requiring visual monitoring of fluid or air movement.
- Gases: Air and compatible gases
- Liquids: Water and compatible liquids
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series VF offers two primary scale lengths with distinct accuracy ratings. The VFA model features a 2" typical length scale, while the VFB model provides a 4" typical length scale.- Accuracy: VFA models are rated at 5% FS; VFB models are rated at 3% FS.
- Pressure and Temperature Limits (Without Valve): 100 psig (6.9 bar) @ 150°F (65°C); 150 psig (10 bar) @ 100°F (38°C).
- Pressure and Temperature Limits (With Valve): 100 psig (6.9 bar) @ 120°F (48°C).
The precision machined tapered bore enables high repeatability. Installation requires a vertical mounting position, and the mounting panel should be free of excessive vibration to ensure proper operation.
Configuration Options
The series supports extensive configuration options for ranges, valves, materials, and connections.
- Ranges: Available in numerous scales including SCFH air (e.g., 0.1 to 1 up to 20 to 200), LPM air, CC/min water, GPH water, and GPM water.
- Valves: Configurable with no valve (standard), brass valve (-BV), or stainless steel valve (-SSV).
- Wetted Materials:
- Body: Acrylic plastic
- O-ring: Buna-N standard; fluoroelastomer available via -VT option
- Metal parts: Brass standard, SS optional via -SS option
- Float materials vary by range and include stainless steel (SS), black glass, aluminum, or K monel.
- Process Connections: Standard 1/8" female NPT. VFB ranges 85 and 86 feature 1/4" NPT back connections or 3/8" NPT end connections; these specific ranges are not available with brass valves.
- Options:
- -ARB: Arbitrary scale
- -AT: Aluminum tag
- -EC: End connections
- -NIST: NIST traceable calibration certificate
- -PF: Adjustable pointer flag
- -PTFE: PTFE valve seat
- -SPL: Special cleaning
- -WL: Without logo
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two model families based on scale length and accuracy:
- VFA: 2" typical length, 5% FS accuracy.
- VFB: 4" typical length, 3% FS accuracy.
Differences in dimensions correspond to the model family. For example, overall dimension A is 4 [101.6] for Model VFA and 6-1/2 [165.1] for Model VFB. Dimension B (connection height) varies from 3 [76.20] on VFA models to 5-1/2 [139.7] on VFB models.
Special service configurations include non-removable valves available on special order for high pressure or toxic gas/fluid applications. Regulator kits (RKA, RK-RMB) are offered as accessories to maintain constant differential pressure in systems with fluctuating inlet or discharge pressure.
