Supported Applications

The Omega NS-208 series comprises unmanaged 8-port industrial Ethernet switches designed for networking and data conversion applications. The series supports IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and IEEE 802.3x standards, providing connectivity for up to eight workstations via 10/100Base-T(X) interfaces with auto-negotiation of transmission speed (10 Mbps or 100 Mbps) and flow control.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 °C ~ +75 °C, with a storage temperature capability from -40 °C ~ +85 °C. Relative humidity is rated at 10% to 90% RH (non-condensing). The NS-208 model features a plastic casing meeting UL 94V-0 flammability standards and an IP20 protection rating, while the NSM-108 variant utilizes a rugged high-strength metal case also rated for IP20. Both models provide Ethernet isolation of 1500 Vrms for one minute.

Power requirements vary by model configuration: standard units accept +10 VDC ~ +30 VDC (non-isolated), while 'A' series variants support a wider input range of +12 VDC ~ +48 VDC. Power consumption is specified as 0.15 A @ 24 VDC (+/-5%) for the NS-208 in 10M Full duplex mode, and 0.09 A @ 24 VDC (+/-5%) for the NSM-108 in 100M Full duplex mode.

Embedded LEDs in the RJ-45 jacks monitor network status: Red indicates Power On/Off; Green indicates Link/Act or Not Networking; Yellow indicates 100 Mbps link speed.
