Supported Applications

The Omega SVH-14 Series comprises 2-Way, direct-operated, pilot-assisted solenoid valves designed for high-pressure service. The series is engineered to control water, non-corrosive liquids and gases, liquids with viscosity approaching that of light oil, hydrocarbon fuels, oxygen, steam, and cryogenic liquids. Additional documented media include corrosive fluids, deionized water, condensate, ammonia, vegetable oils, fuel oils, hydrogen, flammable liquids and gases, and other fluids compatible with the materials of construction.

These valves are suitable for applications requiring control of higher pressures up to 1,500 psi [10.3 MPa] inlet pressure (depending on model) and cryogenic conditions. The series supports both gas and liquid service configurations.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SVH-14 Series operates with a maximum allowable inlet pressure of 1,500 psi [10.3 MPa]. Maximum allowable differential pressure varies by model: the SVH-141 supports up to 1,500 psi, while models SVH-142 through SVH-145 support up to 1,200 psi. The valves are normally closed (NC) and direct acting; when energized, flow occurs from inlet to outlet, and when de-energized, flow stops.

Flow is restricted to the direction of inlet to outlet unless a check valve is installed downstream, as P_inlet must be greater than or equal to P_outlet at all times. The response time is typically less than 0.5 seconds. Leakage performance adheres to Class 2, Class 4, and Class 5 standards depending on size and media (water or air), with allowable leakage rates ranging from 0.08 cc/min for water in the smallest sizes up to 16.00 cc/min for larger ports.

Media Compatibility & Restrictions

  • Suitable Media: Water, non-corrosive liquids and gases, light oil viscosity fluids, hydrocarbon fuels, oxygen, steam, cryogenic liquids, corrosive fluids, deionized water, condensate, ammonia, vegetable oils, fuel oils, hydrogen.
  • Restrictions: Do not use with dirty fluids or solutions that leave large deposits. Install a filter upstream and close to the solenoid valve. These products are not designed for human applications.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable port sizes, service types, coil voltages, and special-service options to meet specific installation requirements.

Port Sizes & Models

  • SVH-141: ½" (0.500") orifice; Maximum differential pressure: 1,500 psi.
  • SVH-142: ¾" port size; Maximum differential pressure: 1,200 psi.
  • SVH-143: 1" (1.000") orifice; Maximum differential pressure: 1,200 psi.
  • SVH-144: 1½" port size; Maximum differential pressure: 1,200 psi.
  • SVH-145: 2" (2.000") orifice; Maximum differential pressure: 1,200 psi.

Service Types & Coils

The series is available in Gas (G) and Liquid (L) configurations. Standard coils feature encapsulated Class "H" construction with built-in rectifiers allowing AC or DC power operation, supplied with 18" leads.

  • Voltage Options: 120V AC, 24V AC, 220V AC (labeled as 240A in model codes), 24V DC, 120V DC, and 220V DC.
  • Enclosure: Carbon steel coil enclosure that is completely seal-welded; rated NEMA 4,7.

Special Service Options & Connections

The series supports several special-service configurations and connection types available upon request or via model number suffixes:

  • -HY: Hydrogen service (Helium leak test).
  • -NO: Normally Open valve configuration.
  • -OX: Oxygen cleaned units.
  • -CY: Cryogenic service units.
  • -DIN: DIN electrical connector (additional charge).
  • Process Connections: Standard NPT valve body threads per ANSI/ASME B1.20.1; Socket weld, 150#, 300#, and 600# flanges available upon request.

Key Product Differences

The SVH-14 Series distinguishes itself through specific model-based pressure ratings and mounting requirements. While the series title indicates a Normally Closed (NC) configuration, the -NO option provides a Normally Open variant for applications requiring flow in the de-energized state.

Pressure & Mounting Distinctions

The SVH-141 model is rated for 1,500 psi differential pressure, whereas models SVH-142 through SVH-145 are limited to 1,200 psi. The SVH-145 (2" port) requires vertical mounting with the solenoid on top because gravity is used to reset an internal component upon closing.

Material Composition

The valve body is constructed of 316 stainless steel (CF8M). Wetted components include a 304 and 430 stainless steel bonnet tube, 303 stainless steel piston and pilot valve, PTFE piston rings and valve disc, and Durion 8500 or 9000 gaskets. The coil enclosure is carbon steel.

Installation Notes

NPT threads require a sealant such as PTFE tape by design; do not combine thread sealant and PTFE tape. Do not back off connections to adjust orientation, as this may destroy the seal. No lubrication is required for operation.
