Supported Applications
The Omega HH11C and HH12C series comprises high-accuracy, portable digital thermometers designed for Type K (Chromic-Alum) thermocouple inputs. These handheld instruments follow National Bureau of Standards and IEC 584 temperature/voltage tables to measure process temperatures in industrial settings where a compact, battery-operated solution is required.
Key functional capabilities include:
- Data Capture Functions: MIN/MAX/AVG (average), REL (relative/delta), and HOLD functions for recording temperature extremes and differentials.
- User Adjustments: Front-panel offset adjustment allows users to calibrate readings against a reference standard or compensate for sensor placement errors.
- Dual-Channel Operation: The HH12C model provides simultaneous measurement on two independent Type K inputs, enabling differential temperature monitoring between two points.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series is engineered for high-resolution readings with a 4½ digit liquid crystal display (LCD) capable of displaying values up to 19999. Measurement rates are specified at 2.5 times per second, providing rapid updates on changing thermal conditions.
- Measurement Range:-200°C to 1372°C (-328°F to 2502°F).
- Resolution (Auto-Range): 0.1 or 1° units depending on the selected range.
- Accuracy: ±(0.1% rdg + 0.5°C) for -50 to 1372°C (-58 to 2502°F); ±(0.1% rdg + 2°C) for -50 to -200°C (-58 to -328°F). Accuracy specifications apply at operating temperatures of 18°C to 28°C (64°F to 82°F).
- Temperature Coefficient: 0.1 times the applicable accuracy specification per °C from 0°C to 18°C and 28°C to 50°C.
Ambient operating conditions are limited to 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) at less than 80% relative humidity. Storage temperature ranges from -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F), with the battery removed, in environments of 0 to 80% RH.
Configuration Options
The series offers two primary configurations distinguished by channel count and physical weight. Both models utilize standard SMPW type connectors (flat blades spaced 7.9mm center-to-center) for thermocouple input; they are not compatible with NMP connectors.
- HH11C: Single-input high-accuracy digital thermometer. Weight is approximately 235 g (8.3 oz) including batteries.
- HH12C: Dual-input high-accuracy digital thermometer. Weight is approximately 240 g (8.5 oz) including batteries.
Power is supplied by a standard 9V battery (NEDA 1604, IEC 6F22), which is included with the unit. Typical battery life is cited as 100 hours when using a carbon zinc battery. A low-battery indication symbol appears on the LCD when voltage drops below operating levels.
Physical protection includes an integrated rubber boot (protective holster). The supplied thermocouple wire for the HH11C model consists of 4 feet of Type K bead wire with PTFE tape insulation, rated to a maximum temperature of 260°C (500°F).
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between models in this series is the number of measurement channels:
- HH11C: Configured for a single Type K thermocouple input.
- HH12C: Configured for dual independent Type K thermocouple inputs, allowing simultaneous monitoring and differential calculations between two sensors.
Both models share identical measurement ranges, accuracy specifications, display resolution, environmental ratings, and connector types. The HH12C adds approximately 5 g (0.2 oz) to the total weight compared to the single-channel variant due to additional circuitry for dual input processing.
