Supported Applications

The Omega CRL Series Curved Face Ceramic Radiant Heaters (Ceramic E-Mitters) are designed for radiant heating applications requiring a universal mount that drops into existing systems regardless of manufacturer. The series accommodates new or existing installations with five standard solid curved face sizes, including the 11.61" ±0.12" (295 mm ±3.0 mm) x 3.72" ±0.06" (95 mm) CRL Series dimensions. Custom engineered and manufactured heaters are available for application-specific sizes and ratings.

Specific use cases include replacement of heaters in CRP Modular 12 × 12 CRP Radiant Panels, where units with yellow to orange color serve as exact replacements. The series is suitable for environments subject to vibration or adverse atmospheric conditions, maintaining performance unaffected by these factors.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The CRL Series operates in a 22°C (72°F) room ambient environment with an operating life of over 10,000-plus hours under normal continuous operation. Heater body temperatures range from 796°F to 1418°F depending on the wattage and model configuration.

Performance specifications include:

  • Infrared Radiation Wavelength: 2.5 to 6 µm
  • Peak Emitted Wavelength: Ranges from 4.15 µm at lower wattages down to 2.78 µm for the highest rated units.
  • Vibration Resistance: Performance is unaffected by vibration.

The series supports a maximum heater body temperature of 1418°F (770°C) and a maximum power rating of 1.8 kW, as indicated in the model specifications table for units such as CRL20034 and CRL00020.

Configuration Options

The series offers extensive configurability across wattage, voltage, color, and sensor options to meet specific design requirements:

  • Wattage Options: Available in 500 W, 750 W, 950 W, 1000 W, 1150 W, 1250 W, 1400 W, 1500 W, 1600 W, and 1800 W.
  • Voltage Configurations: Standard stocked voltages include 120 Vac and 220/240V. Other available voltages are 208, 277, and 480 Vac. All 240/480V heaters feature two windings for dual voltage use (parallel connected for 240V and series connected for 480V), while 120V heaters utilize single winding designs.
  • Color Options: Standard colors include metamorphing rose (cold) to grey (hot) and traditional white. Optional colors are metamorphing yellow (cold) to orange (hot) and black.
  • Sensor Integration: Units are available with built-in Type K thermocouples, including standard and low noise options. Low noise style thermocouple units feature 12" leads.

Mounting & Electrical Connections

The heaters include a universal mount design for installation in existing systems. Standard electrical connections consist of 152 mm (6") ceramic bead insulated leads, #8-10 spade terminals, and one-piece spring clips designed for mounting in 20 or 22 gauge sheet metal.

Options & Accessories

The series supports additional configurations including:

  • Additional Power or Thermocouple Lead Lengths
  • Two-Piece Wave Mounting Clip
  • Reflectors and Other Accessories (e.g., stock CRK reflector)
  • Arrays and Power/Temperature Control Panels

Key Product Differences

The CRL Series distinguishes itself through specific model variations based on watt density, color metamorphosis, and thermocouple integration. Models are identified by a numbering system that encodes the thermocouple type (Standard Type K or Low Noise), wattage, voltage, and color.

  • Color Coding: Units with yellow to orange colors are designated as exact replacements for CRP Modular 12 × 12 panels. Rose to grey and white units represent standard metamorphing options.
  • Voltage Winding Architecture: A key variation exists between single-winding designs (120V) and dual-winding architectures (240/480V), which allow for flexible voltage operation via parallel or series connections.
  • Sensor Types: Variants differ by the inclusion of a standard Type K thermocouple versus a low noise Type K thermocouple, with specific model numbers assigned to each configuration (e.g., CRL20021 vs. CRL20022).

I am interested in the CRL heater for a product I am designing. It is not clear as to how I can mechanically mount the heaters. Any suggestions? CRL20022

Thank you for your inquiry. These are mounted using the CRK00032 Mounting Reflector.
