The Omega PRMAG series consists of heavy-duty magnetic mount RTD sensors designed for measuring the surface temperature of ferrous materials. These probes feature a spring-mounted design to ensure consistent contact with metal surfaces, utilizing a powerful magnet rated at 6 kg (13 lb) pull force.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PRMAG series is engineered for high-temperature surface monitoring up to a maximum process temperature of 400°C (752°F). The sensor element is specified as a Class A Din Platinum Element with 100 Ω resistance. Electrical performance relies on standard 4-wire construction to minimize lead wire errors.
Physical dimensions for the probe assembly are listed as 25 H x 40 W x 25 mm D. The series does not specify ambient temperature limits, pressure ratings, or enclosure protection levels beyond the inherent design of the magnetic mount and cable insulation options.
Cable Insulation Temperature Limits
The maximum operating capability is constrained by the selected lead wire insulation material:- PVC: 100°C maximum (also available with tinned copper braid)
- Silicone Rubber: 200°C maximum
- PFA: 250°C maximum (also available with SST overbraid rated to 200°C in the braided variant)
- Fiberglass: 400°C maximum (available plain or with SST braid)
Configuration Options
The PRMAG series offers extensive configurability through lead wire insulation, cable length, and termination options. The standard model number format follows the pattern PRMAG-2-100-A-<CABLE>-<LENGTH>, where specific codes denote material and dimensions.Cable Insulation Options
The series supports a wide range of lead wire insulations to match environmental conditions:- PVC (standard or with tinned copper braid)

Length and Termination Configurations
Cable lengths are configurable beyond the standard 1 m (40") offering. For lengths greater than 1 meter, the model number suffix is adjusted to reflect the required length in meters or feet, with additional cost per meter applied based on insulation type.Terminations include stripped leads as a baseline option. Connector terminations are available by adding specific codes for 'OTP', 'MTP', or 'TA3F' connectors. The series also supports TA4FL (female) and TA4ML (male) miniature connectors with latch lock mechanisms.

Are these 4 wire or 3 wire? States 4 wire standard but only list 3 wire in options. Looking for 4 wire magnetic mount with stainless steel flex covering about 30 ft in length
Thank you for your inquiry. These are made only in a 3-wire construction now. The 4-wire is a typo.

I am running the signal to a room over 100ft in distance. Would connecting a process meter from the 3 feet end back to my cabinet give me accurate readings or would you suggest running it trough a transmitter first?
Thank you for the request. Extra lead resistance can cause an offset on the readings. The offset will be nearly constant. You can possible add a correction factor depending on your instrumentation. Note that response time of the PRMAG is slow. Response can be 10 to 20 minutes depending on ambient conditions.

What is the alpha value for this RTD?
The PRMAG RTD magnetic probes follow the 385 European Alpha specification.

do you have a schematic of showing what each of the 3 wires should be connected to?
Hi Nick-
This three wire RTD has two positive leads and one negative lead. The module used in conjunction with this input sensor should have a wiring diagram showing which terminals accept the RTD, two positive leads going to the two sided leg and one negative lead going to the one sided leg.
