Supported Applications

The Omega X, XR, V, and VR series are stainless steel, hermetically sealed bimetal thermometers designed for installation on top of tanks, boilers, or in high locations where a standard angle-form instrument would be difficult to read. These dial indicators provide local temperature monitoring with direct-reading scales.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series covers an extensive range of measurement spans across Fahrenheit and Celsius scales. Available ranges include -100 to 100°F, -80 to 120°F, -40 to 160°F, 0 to 300°F, 50 to 750°F, and up to 200 to 1000°F. Celsius ranges span from -50 to 200°C through high-temperature options such as 100 to 550°C. Scale divisions vary by range, with examples including ½°, 1°, 2°, 5°, and 10° increments.

Stems are constructed from stainless steel with a diameter of ¼". The minimum stem length is 4", though lengths up to 36" are available. For applications involving severe industrial vibration, silicone-filled versions (suffix '-SF') are offered; these models feature durable polycarbonate crystals and reduce wear and fatigue while improving readability.

Configuration Options

The series is configurable across head size, mounting orientation, process connection, and special service options:

• Head Size: Models X and XR feature a 3" OD head; models V and VR feature a 5" OD head.
• Housing Material: Stainless steel construction for the housing and wetted parts.
• Process Connections: Standard mounting is ½" NPT. Optional connections include ¼" NPT or ¾" NPT.
• Stem Orientation: The standard stem position is BOTTOM (6 o'clock). Configurable positions include LEFT (9 o'clock), TOP (12 o'clock), and RIGHT (3 o'clock).
• Silicone-Filled Option: Add suffix '-SF' to the model number for silicone-filled thermometers. Note that silicone filling is not recommended for ranges over 500°F.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between four primary models based on head size and reset functionality:

• Models X and V: Standard bimetal thermometers with 3" OD (X) or 5" OD (V) heads.
• Models XR and VR: Variants equipped with a reset screw. Model diagrams indicate specific dimensions for the reset screw mechanism, such as a 0.38" dimension on the stem assembly.

Certain temperature ranges are restricted to specific model families: the **250 to 600°F range is available in X and XR models only; other high-temperature configurations may be limited by head size or series designation as noted in ordering examples.
