Supported Applications

The Omega SHXJP Series consists of high temperature jack panel assemblies designed for miniature thermocouple connectors. These panels mount SHX type subminiature ceramic connectors to a steel plate, providing connection points in environments requiring thermal resilience up to 538°C (1000°F). The series supports applications where glazed connectors might contaminate the process; specifically, unglazed USHX connector versions are available for vacuum systems.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SHXJP panels are engineered to operate in high-temperature environments with a design limit of 538°C (1000°F). The assemblies utilize subminiature ceramic connectors, which provide the necessary thermal stability for these conditions. Panels are shipped unassembled and require installation using mounting hardware such as the optional Type SHACL bracket.

Configuration Options

The series offers a configurable envelope of panel sizes, circuit densities, connector types, and thermocouple calibrations to match specific instrumentation layouts.

  • Panel Configuration: Available in 1 to 4 rows. Circuit density per row is offered in increments of 6, 12, or 18 circuits.
  • Dimensions: Panel heights range from 45 mm H (1-3/4") for a single row up to 149 mm H (5-7/8") for four rows. Lengths vary by circuit count: 6 circuits per row yields 111 L (4-3/8"); 12 circuits yield 206 L (8-1/8"); and 18 circuits yield 302 L (11-7/8").
  • Connector Types: Standard panels feature glazed SHX subminiature ceramic connectors. An unglazed USHX version is available for vacuum applications.
  • Thermocouple Calibrations: The series supports calibrations J, K, T, E, R, S, G, N, C, D, and U (Uncompensated). Specific alloy designations include Iron-Constantan (J), CHROMEGA®-ALOMEGA® (K), Copper-Constantan (T), Pt-Pt/13% Rh (R), W-W26% Re (G), and others as listed in the model guide.
  • Mounting: Panels include four 0.16 diameter screw holes at two places for mounting. The optional Type SHACL panel mounting bracket features a dimension of 28 mm (1.09 inch) with a panel opening of 19 H x 10 mm W (0.765 x 0.390").
  • Ordering Structure: Model numbers follow the format SHXJP[number of rows]-[total circuits]-[calibration code]. For example, SHXJP1-18-K denotes a single row panel with 18 Type K connectors.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by physical layout and connector finish. The primary distinction is between standard glazed ceramic connectors (SHX) and unglazed versions (USHX), where USHX models are designated for vacuum systems to prevent contamination from glaze outgassing.

Physical variations correspond directly to circuit capacity:

  • Circuit Density: Panels scale in total circuits based on the combination of rows and circuits per row. A 1-row panel with 6 circuits (SHXJP1-06) differs from a 4-row, 72-circuit assembly (SHXJP4-72).
  • Calibration Codes: Each variant is fixed to a specific thermocouple type or left blank for field installation. The calibration code determines the internal connector pinout compatibility.
