Supported Applications
The Omega M12TX series consists of analog PC-programmable 2-wire transmitters with integrated Pt100 RTD sensors. Designed for space-limited areas, these compact mineral-insulated probes feature a molded IP67 connector and are intended for industrial temperature measurement applications where the electronic section must remain within -40 to +80°C.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The M12TX series provides a configurable input temperature range from -50 to 800°C via software, with standard factory defaults typically set for ranges such as 0 to 150°C. The Pt100 sensor (Pt-0.00385) meets Class A accuracy in accordance with IEC751 up to 300°C. Transmitter accuracy is specified at a maximum of ±0.2°C or ±0.2% of span.
Performance characteristics include:
- Response Time (90%): <50 ms for the transmitter electronics.
- Sensor Response Time (63.2%, test in water to IEC751): Less than 3.5 seconds for Ø3 mm probes and less than 13 seconds for Ø6 mm probes.
- Ambient Temperature: -40 to +80°C (for the electronic section).
- Process Temperature Limits: Up to 500°C (-58 to 932°F) is listed for standard operation; higher process temperatures up to 800°C are configurable but require adherence to Tmax./Tenv. graphs to prevent damage from heat transfer.
- Humidity: 0 to 100% relative humidity.
Configuration Options
The series supports a wide envelope of configurations for probe diameter, insertion length, and output parameters. The transmitter is powered by an external supply or via the configuration interface during setup.
- Sensor Element: 3-wire Pt100 (Pt-0.00385) with a sensor current of 0.5 mA; maximum wire resistance per wire is 20 Ω.
- Output Signal: 4 to 20 mA analog output, non-isolated. Permissible load is 700Ω @24Vdc (calculated as R_load = (U - 8.5) / 0.022).
- Power Supply: 8.5 to 32 Vdc with polarity protection.
- Housing & Materials: Thermoplastic body for the transmitter section; probe sheath and thermowell options include AISI 316L stainless steel or compact mineral-insulated (MgO) cable construction.
- Degree of Protection: IP65 and IP67 in accordance with IEC60529. The molded connector is M12x1 male, compliant with VDE0627.
- Error Monitoring: Configurable sensor break monitoring (upscale >21 mA or downscale <3.6 mA) and fixed short-circuit action (downscale <3.6 mA).

- Bending Radius: The compact mineral-insulated cable probe allows a minimum bending radius of three times the outer diameter (excluding the sensing tip).
- Configuration Kit: Programming is performed using the M12TX-CONFIG-SET, which includes USB interface hardware and software for Windows 10.0 or higher to adjust range span, units (°C/°F/K), sensor error compensation, and transmitter identification.
