Supported Applications

The OMEGA® LV-1100/1200 Series are side-mount, non-magnetic liquid level switches whose construction makes them suitable for applications where magnetic particles such as rust are present. Because they carry no magnet, they perform well in highly particulate-contaminated liquids and rusty environments where magnetic float switches can foul.

Typical media handled across the series include water, acids, bases, inorganic solutions, sewage and contaminated water. The broad-chemical-spectrum variants extend coverage to alcohols, ketones, chlorinated organics, esters, ether, hydrocarbons, nitrites and phenols, so the line reaches from municipal sewage handling to aggressive corrosive process fluids.

Each switch carries a 15 A SPDT relay that can directly control a pump, making the series a fit for level-based pump start/stop, high- and low-level alarming, and interfacing to a PLC or computer through the gold cross-bar dry-circuit option.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The switching element is an SPDT relay rated 15 A @ 125 or 250 Vac with a rated life of 10,000,000 operations median. A dry-circuit option provides gold cross-bar contacts for computer / PLC interfaces at 1.0 AMP or less, 5-24 Vac/Dc, and is UL & CSA listed.

Working temperature and pressure limits are stated per model. The LV-1100 Series is rated to 300 psig @ 82°C (180°F). The LV-1102 is rated to 75 psig @ 93°C (200°F) and 100 psig @ 23°C (75°F), while the LV-1201 is rated to 75 psig @ 23°C (75°F) and 200 psig @ 10°C (50°F). The LV-1203 is rated to 75 psig @ 93°C (200°F) and 100 psig @ 230°C.

A liquid-level change of just 6.35 mm actuates the switch on all models. Minimum working fluid specific gravity is 0.6 for the brass and Noryl models and 0.7 for the broad-spectrum PPS models. The series carries CE and RoHS compliance.

Configuration Options

Variants differ primarily by wetted materials and chemical compatibility, which in turn set the fluids each model can handle. The metal-bodied LV-1100 models fit through a 2 NPT opening, while the compact LV-1200 models fit through a 1¼ NPT opening.

• LV-1101A — red brass, phosphor bronze, 316 SS hardware, 304 SS, EPDM seal, cork-chloroprene gasket and a Noryl® cover; minimum specific gravity 0.6.
• LV-1102A — 316 SS and 302 SS, FKM and PTFE with a Noryl cover; minimum specific gravity 0.6.
• LV-1201 — Noryl (a phenylene-oxide-based resin), 316 SS and EPDM; minimum specific gravity 0.6.
• LV-1202 — PPS, 316 SS, FKM and PVC for a broad chemical spectrum; minimum specific gravity 0.7.
• LV-1203 — PPS, Hastelloy C and FKM for the most corrosive environments; minimum specific gravity 0.7.

An optional water-resistant strain-relief fitting is available for the LV-1200 models for cable diameters 0.250" ±0.025". Grommet options (Option 1) accommodate cable outside diameters from 6.35 mm to 12.70 mm, and a 1/2" flexible conduit fitting (Option 2) is offered in straight or 90° form.

The series comprises five orderable models spanning metal and engineered-plastic constructions:

• LV-1101A — brass side-mount level switch.
• LV-1102A — stainless-steel side-mount level switch.
• LV-1201 — Noryl / 316 SS side-mount level switch.
• LV-1202 — PPS / 316 SS broad-chemical-spectrum switch.
• LV-1203 — PPS / Hastelloy C switch for corrosive service.

The LV-1102 uses a two-float design and the LV-1101 a single float. Ordering examples include LV-1101A and LV-1201; each switch ships complete with an operator's manual.
