Supported Applications

The Dwyer Model VP1 is a wired 100 mm Vane Thermo-Anemometer Probe designed for use with the Model UHH Universal Handheld. It measures air velocity, volumetric airflow, temperature, and relative humidity in dry, clean air applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The probe operates within a process temperature range of -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C) according to the instruction manual, while the data sheet lists an extended capability up to 212°F (100°C). Ambient operating temperatures are specified as 5 to 125°F (-15 to 51°C).

Measurement ranges and accuracy specifications vary by parameter:

  • Air Velocity: Ranges from 40 to 5000 fpm (0.2 to 25 m/s) per the data sheet, or 50 to 5000 fpm (0.25 to 25 m/s) per the manual. Accuracy is ±1.5% of reading plus a fixed offset: ±20 fpm (±0.1 m/s) for 0.25–10 m/s; ±40 fpm (±0.2 m/s) for 10–20 m/s; and ±60 fpm (±0.3 m/s) for 20–25 m/s.
  • Temperature: Accuracy is ±0.54°F @ 77°F (±0.3°C @ 25°C).
  • Relative Humidity: Range is 0 to 100% RH with accuracy of ±2% @ 77°F (25°C) for the 10–90% range, and ±4% at 0–10% and 90–100%.
  • Air Volume: Displays up to 999,999 in selected units.

Response times are documented as 1 s for air velocity and air volume, and 1.5 s for temperature and relative humidity.

Configuration Options

The Model VP1 features a rotating vane with an arrow molded into the housing to indicate flow direction. The larger 100 mm diameter enables measurement of low velocities down to 40 fpm (0.2 m/s) or 50 fpm (0.25 m/s), depending on the source document.
