Supported Applications
The Omega SGD-2-ELEMENT90 series consists of Precision Strain Gage Corner Tee Rosettes configured as a Biaxial, 0 ° - 90 ° arrangement. These strain gages are designed for measuring strain in materials where biaxial stress analysis is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports nominal resistances of 120 Ω and 350 Ω. Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage varies by model, ranging from 3 Vrms to 20 Vrms depending on the specific resistance, size, and termination type. The data sheet notes that for a complete dimensions key, users should visit the manufacturer online.
Configuration Options
The SGD-2-ELEMENT90 series is available in three primary grid sizes: Small (1 mm), Medium (3 mm), and Large (6 mm). Each size offers configurations for different termination methods and temperature compensation materials.
- Nominal Resistance: 120 Ω or 350 Ω.
- Termination Types: Ribbon Leads or Solder Pads.
- Temperature Compensation (Temp Comp): ST for Steel and AL for Aluminum.
- Packaging: Models are supplied in packages of 5 units per package, as indicated by the "Pkg of 5" notation on model numbers.
- Customization: Custom-designed strain gages are available with no minimum quantities; engineering consultation is required for these configurations.
Key Product Differences
The SGD-2-ELEMENT90 biaxial 0°–90° corner T-rosette strain gauge is configured through its model number (SGD-<size>-<resistance>-RYB<termination>), giving a matrix of options:
- Nominal resistance — 120 Ω and 350 Ω options.
- Termination / temperature-compensation code — RYB variants such as RYB21, RYB23, RYB81 and RYB83.
Example designations include SGD-1/120-RYB83 (120 Ω) and SGD-1/350-RYB21 (350 Ω).

How long are the ribbon leads for this particular strain gauge?
Hi, thanks for your question. The strain gauge terminates with Ribbon leads: The dimension of the ribbon leads are as follows: (1.2 x 0.004" ) Length x Diameter. The fine ribbon leads from the strain gauge must be soldered on to a bond-able terminal pad for stress relief and the instrumentation wire must be connected to the bondable terminal pad.
