Supported Applications
The Omega FST1000 Series is an economical air flow switch designed to measure air velocity and provide two SPST relay contact closures for high and low alarm set points. The series is intended for use in HVAC monitoring, exhaust/ventilation hoods, and other manufacturing processes requiring airflow verification.
The device measures clean air or Nitrogen ONLY. It is not explosion proof nor intrinsically safe; do not use with flammable or hazardous gases or in Hazardous areas. Air carrying dust or oil can lead to coating of the sensor and inaccurate readings.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FST1000 Series operates on a 15 to 24 Vdc @ 200 mA power supply. The unit features an accuracy of 2% FS (air velocity) with a response time of 250 msec.

- Process Temperature: -40 to 93°C (-40 to 199°F)
The sensor is a bi-directional device, meaning air flow in the forward or reverse direction provides the same readings. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally without shift in calibration.
Configuration Options
The series offers two measurement ranges and two probe configurations to accommodate different installation needs:
- Ranges:
- FST1001 models: 0 to 5000 FPM (0 to 25.4 m/sec)
- FST1002 models: 0 to 10,000 FPM (0 to 50.8 m/sec)
Probe Configurations:
- Fixed Probe (-A): Includes a standard sensor probe.
- Remote Probe (-R): Features a 12" long remote probe connected via shielded cable.
The alarm set points are adjustable from 0 to 100% of the air flow range. The unit includes visual indicators: one green power LED and two red LEDs for high and low alarm indications.
Key Product Differences
Model numbers follow the pattern FST1000 - - . Specific variations include:
- FST1001A / FST1001R: 0 to 5000 FPM range with fixed or remote probe.
- FST1002A / FST1002R: 0 to 10,000 FPM range with fixed or remote probe.
The sensor probe is housed in a ¼" OD stainless steel tube. The standard overall length of the probe/stem is 305 mm (12"). For applications requiring a shorter insertion depth, adding suffix “-S” provides a 95 mm (3.75") short probe at no additional charge.
Available accessories include:
- TX8-100: 8 conductor shielded cable, PVC insulation, 30.5 m (100') spool
- PSR-24S / PSR-24L: Regulated 24 Vdc @ 400 mA power supply with screw terminal or stripped leads
- SSLK-14-14: Compression fitting
