Supported Applications

The Omega DFG81 Analog Force Gauge series consists of handheld, mechanical push-pull scales designed for measuring force in tension and compression. These instruments feature a dial display with a peak hold switch to capture maximum load values and a tare ring for zeroing the gauge before measurement.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DFG81 series is classified as Industrial Grade, offering an accuracy of ±0.3% F.S. The gauges are constructed with rugged die-cast aluminum housings and provide a stroke of 10 mm at full scale (F.S.). An overload capacity of 165 lbs applies to all ranges within the series.

Performance specifications vary by unit type:

• Pounds: Resolution from 0.02 lb to 1 lb across capacities ranging from 2 lb to 100 lb.
• Kilograms: Resolution from 10 g to 500 g across capacities ranging from 1 kg to 50 kg.
• Newtons: Resolution from 0.1 N to 5 N across capacities ranging from 10 N to 500 N.

Accuracy may be affected if the unit is exposed to high humidity, dust, or extreme shock. The gauges are not designed for patient-connected applications.

Configuration Options

The DFG81 series supports multiple measurement ranges and units, allowing selection based on specific force requirements. Each gauge is sold as a complete kit including the instrument, a hard carrying case, five measuring tips, and a 3" extension rod.

• Kilograms (kg): 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, and 50 kg.

Mounting & Accessories

The gauges can be mounted to a stand using M3 mounting screws with a maximum insertion depth of 8 mm. The included measuring tips allow for various contact configurations during tension or compression testing.

Key Product Differences

The DFG81 series is distinguished from the related DFG82 Laboratory Grade series by its accuracy specification and resolution values. While both series share similar form factors, measurement types (push-pull), and housing materials, the DFG81 provides ±0.3% F.S. accuracy compared to the DFG82's ±0.1% F.S.

Model numbers follow a specific format indicating capacity and unit type:

• Pounds: Model number includes the numeric value (e.g., DFG81-10 for 10 lb).
• Kilograms: Model number appends "KG" to the numeric value (e.g., DFG81-10KG for 10 kg).
• Newtons: Model number appends "N" to the numeric value (e.g., DFG81-50N for 50 N).
