Supported Applications
Dwyer Series W Thermowells are temperature sensor protection devices designed for industrial process applications. They protect sensing elements from high-velocity fluids, pressure, and corrosion while allowing accurate measurement of the process medium.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports sheath materials including 304 SS, 316 SS, Brass, and Carbon steel. Standard bore sizes are documented as 0.260" for 1/4" elements and 0.390" for 3/8" elements. The standard process connection is listed as 1/2 NPT.
Configuration Options
The Series W utilizes a model coding system to configure specific hardware types, tapers/bore sizes, threads, connections, mounting styles, lag options, and sheath dimensions. The following configuration envelopes are available:

- Inside Thread: 1/2" female NPT.
- Process Connections: Options include 1/2 NPT, 3/4 NPT, 1 NPT; flanges in sizes of 1", 1-1/2", and 2" with pressure ratings of 150#, 300#, and 600#.
- Mounting Styles: Threaded, Heavy duty threaded, Heavy duty flanged, Flanged.
- Lag Options: None, 2", or 3" lag lengths.
- Sheath O.D. Base / Taper Dimensions: Configurations include step sizes (5/8" / 1/2", 3/4" / 1/2", 7/8" / 1/2") and taper sizes (7/8" / 5/8", 1-1/16" / 5/8", 7/8" / 49/64", 1-1/16" / 49/64"). Straight sheath options include 5/8", 3/4", and 7/8".
The 'A' dimension (insertion length) is variable, with the model coding section indicating values are provided in inches. The document notes a California Proposition 65 warning regarding exposure to chemicals including Lead.
