Supported Applications
The Omega TJ-USB series consists of rugged thermocouple transition joint probes designed to connect directly to a USB port on a computer. These probes integrate with free TRH Central software, enabling the PC to function as a temperature meter, data logger, or chart recorder.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series utilizes an integral Type K (ungrounded) thermocouple sensor. Measurement capabilities are divided into two ranges based on configuration:
- K1: -73 to 315°C (-100 to 600°F)
- K2: -200 to 1000°C (-328 to 1832°F)
Accuracy is specified as ±1°C (1.8°F) for K1 and ±3°C (5.4°F) for K2, with resolution of 0.1° for K1 and 1° for K2. Stability is listed as ±0.25°C for K1 and ±0.5° for K2. The probes feature automatic cold junction compensation from -10 to 70°C.
Operating environment limits are defined as -10 to 70°C with 0 to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing). A note in the specifications indicates that for 304 stainless steel sheaths, the maximum temperature is limited to 850°C (1562°F).
Configuration Options
The TJ-USB series offers configurable dimensions and materials. Probes are available with an integral shielded USB cable featuring a Type A plug.
Sheath Materials
- 304 Stainless Steel (CASS)
- Inconel® (CAIN)
- Nickel-chrome / Super OMEGACLAD® XL (KQXL)
Diameters and Lengths
- Sheath diameters: 4.5 mm or 6 mm (0.187" or 0.250")
- Probe lengths: 457 mm (18") or 610 mm (24")
Options and Accessories
The series supports the following options:
- CAL-3: NIST traceable calibration with 3 data points
- RH-USB: Humidity/temperature probe with USB (also available)
- HX70-MKIT: Wall/duct mounting kit for RH-USB
- Infrared Probe with USB Connection (Also Available)
Key Product Differences
Variants are distinguished by sheath material, diameter code, length code, and temperature range class. Model numbers follow the pattern TJ-USB-<SHEATH>-<DIAMETER>-<LENGTH>-K<RANGE>. For example:
- TJ-USB-CASS: 304 SS transition joint probe
- TJ-USB-CAIN: Inconel transition joint probe
- TJ-USB-KQXL: Nickel-chrome (Super OMEGACLAD® XL) transition joint probe
Sheath diameter codes are "316" for 4.5 mm and "14" for 6 mm. Length codes are "18" for 457 mm and "24" for 610 mm. The K1 suffix denotes the -73 to 315°C range, while K2 denotes the extended -200 to 1000°C range.

Can I export data from logger directly into a pre-existing excel file?
Hi Ageon,
The recorded data can be exported to Excel compatible file. Software does not transfer direct to Excel file while recording.
Best regards
